For the Guppies living abroad

Would you ever considered going back to Pakistan and settling there?for financial reasons or for your kids??

I know a couple of families who moved back just because they thought they can brought up their kids better there…but from my knowledge of whats been happenin’ in Pakistan…it seems even worse there…

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

I guess the rural areas of Pakistan are still safe, if you can buy some land there and raise cattle and grow crops and do home schooling of kids you can live in peace. Just my impression nothing to back it up .

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

^ Rural areas are safe no doubt...but I think living away from all the amenities and stuff would be really really tough...

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

I was for going back until I visited in 2004.

Either make me a powerful PM so I can fix all the issues or I ain’t going back.:snooty:

I will rather prefer to go to any other middle east country though.

Personally speaking, financial reasons are not important for me. When I moved to US, it was not for financial reasons, and if I move back, financial reasons won't hold me back either. I firmly believe, if you are good in what you do, you can live a financially comfortable life, whereever.

Kids' education is usually touted as a big factor when people decide to stay in the US. Again, personally, I think its not a big issue. There are great schools in Pakistan, and once the kids have done their O and A levels and are smart and want to come to US/Europe for higher studies, they can always come back.

I think its mostly a life-style question. Most people (not all) who move to and live in US, do it because of the life-style here. Whether they admit or not is a different matter.

That, and whats important to you. I know a family who successfully moved back to Pak because it was important for them to be with their parents and the husband wanted to hear azaan five times a day from a masjid. Another family moved back because the wife wanted to join Dr Israar's Quran Academy. Another family moved back successfully because the husband wanted to run medical clinics in small towns all over Punjab. Reasons vary, but one thing is common. There has to be a strong pull to take you back. And if the pull is strong enough, you can make it work. Plus, once you decide, stick to it. Don't be having second thoughts. And don't keep all options open. Because then you will never successfully settle back in Pakistan.

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

It is very hard for me to stand injustice and raw deals every common Pakistani faces on daily basis ….

And some how I feel that the law and order situation in Pakistan will deteriorate more in near future ..

Our leaders should read and try to understand the duah Hazrat Ibhraim recited while putting the foundation stone for the city known as Makkah ..

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

For us, going back to pakistan for a couple of years is an option. i gues i could get used to life and all and there are a few things i'd like to try. but i dont' know yet. I've always thought about how it would be to raise my kids there, but i don't know. but i know this much, i would really want to expose my kids to pakistan, to their relatives, to the different culture and lifestyle. i've been fortunate enough to go to pakistan very frequently as a child and now, and i want to give my kids the same experience as well...

Re: For the Guppies living abroad

I don't think i could ever move back to pakistan.
Its just too different.
I've been living here since i was 7, and going to live there now, after 10 years, seems too hard.
I find that life is better here
I can take the public transit alone, without having to worry about anything.
I don't think i would be able to do that in Pakistan.
