For PSquared: Butter chicken that can never go wrong

Thanks to Sara for her inspiration, but here is my successful version:

you can use boneless, but I prefer haddi waala for the flavor.

1 full chicken cut up into small pieces
1/2 jar of marinara pasta sauce or tomato basil pasta sauce
2 tbs butter, 3-4 tbs canola oil
1 cup milk
1 packet rasoi magic or parampara butter paneer mix (this is the key)
some heavy whipping cream (if you don’t mind the fat, or for dawaats)

In a heavy bottomed pan, melt butter along with the oil and add the pasta sauce. Bhuno on low-med until oil separates, then add chicken and bhuno for chicken is a little cooked, mix packet of masala with milk and pour over chicken and stir well, add 2 cups water and cover and cook for 30 mins. Done!!

It's like Shan Masala but Indian, the brands are Rasoi Magic or Parampara. Even Sanjeev Kapoor makes a similar masala.

Re: For PSquared: Butter chicken that can never go wrong

marinara or tomato basil sauce in a salan, really?! interesting. does it taste like you used an italian sauce?

i've heard of people adding heavy cream and even sour cream.

i wish i could make the rich butter chicken masala at the restaurants.

Re: For PSquared: Butter chicken that can never go wrong

I made butter chicken a couple of weeks ago--i think it was the best i ever made. I dont remember exactly what I did but I know i used a few spoonfuls of cream cheese spread (1/3 less fat thO). u can try that....
