Since this a tough time for them to be looking for a job. I would like you guys to give them any suggestion. How they should be approaching this?
The Economy (in the U.S. atleast) has been going down. Alot of companies are laying off people. In this kind of situation, what a new grad should do. Should they wait to see if the economy gets any better or just keep looking for a job.
Re: For New College Grads
Times like these more and more people are returning back to school...maybe earning a higher degree then the one that they possess or in a totaly different field. Talk to your college advisor to see what they say?
Some fields have been untouched by the recent economy though.
Re: For New College Grads
I have talk to them. they are saying the economy soon will get better. I am not graduated yet. I will be graduating in May. I had so many interviews in the fall but they told me that the position is not available anymore.
As far as doing masters, i dont think i can do that. I have loans that i am worrying about right now. I need to pay them off before i think about future education.
Re: For New College Grads
depends what kind of degree you have... there are areas that are still quite in demand and looking for new ppl.
sorry, I don't have any tips...

Hang in there! Economic news might not beso good right now but consider this:
Your field: Some fields are expected to hold steady or even grow like accounting, nursing, and teaching.
Internships: Have you completed any internships? If not, I suggest you try to secure a place. Even if it is after your May graduation, an internship will be instrumental in the job search.
Networking: Start contacting alums in your field interest. Tap into social networks. Do everything possible to get the word out.
Don't get discouraged. Finding a position might take more time than usual but if you stay committed things will work out.
Re: For New College Grads
I don't think anyone will suggest that you stop looking for jobs. What you need to understand is that you might have to look for a job outside your primary field of interest... but anything that can help you put some sort of gainful work experience on your resume will be well worth it. All in all, new grads might have to lower their expectations related to their ideal job roles and salaries.
Also, I personally don't recommend getting into a masters program right away after an undergrad. Before making that investment of time and money, you need to be sure that the move is going to be beneficial to your desired career path... and there's no sure way to tell this unless you have a few years of work experience under your belt. That being said, it doesn't hurt to look into industry endorsed certifications and other complementary qualifications that will help you market yourself a little better once the economy bounces back.
Good luck with everything... hang in there.
Re: For New College Grads
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I am doing Chemical Engineering and I also did internship last semester with a chemical company. I think i am just gonna apply to any job even if i am not really interested in them. First, i did not want to go back to my internship because i did not find the job interesting but i think i am just gonna contract them. Hopefully, they have an openning for me.
Thanks agn for responding.
