(for men) As fathers, would you prefer your children being close to you?

So the thread about men being close to their fathers inspired this one.
Those of you who are already dads, do you spend time with your kids (girls as well as boys). Are you close to them? Do they come to you with their little issues and problems and communicate with you like they do with their moms?

Those who are not fathers yet, what kind of a relationship would you prefer to develop with your kids?

IMO, any father who isn't close to their child and prefers that the mother do all the parenting isn't a father at all, he's a sperm donor.

Yes I do.

Love spending time with them and be just like their buddies. I am also fortunate enough to get a chance to live as a stay-home-father for a around 15 months and that was wonderful experience!

Yep I have very close relationship with my boys and girl and I have overheard them telling their friends how cool their dad is with them. So far so good.

i always push my hubby to spend time with kids alone, otherwise he takes it easy. now boys r getting older i always tell him u hav to spend more time wit them now. they do listen to him more, love him more n complain to him against me. my kidz love hanging around their dad more than with me coz i'm the strictest of two here.

yup. we also had a cat in the hat birthday for them this year.

I am replying on behalf of my hubby. He's a great dad mashallah, he spends time with the boys and my daughter, the older one will talk to him about issues that might be bothering him and my hubby is very calm he listens very attentively to my 16 year old, he's a cool dad. As for my daughter, well sh'es his princess :)

I love spending time with my daughters. Its a blessed time of my day when I chat with them or we play games or do stuff together.
