couple of yrs ago they tried to make beautiful by making a small park around the monument n took the road a bit away from it.

As a sidenote, the history behind Chaburji is that it stood as the entrance of a park of sorts that either Janghir or Shah Jahan (can't remember unfortunately) built for his daughter...
