how much water should be used to cook daal ?
Re: For half cup daal...
I didnt know you had to add measured water to cook dal unless it was in a pressure cooker then you have to add no less than a certain amount. I never measure, just add what i feel right and then keep on adding depending on how done the dal is.
Re: For half cup daal...
it depends if u wanna make patli daal then add arround 5-6 cups of water and if its a thick one which we usually eat with roti then add about 4 cups...
i never measure it but for half cup i usually cill ha pateel with pani (i like patli daal)
just a tip.. if you add tomatoes+cabbage+and looki/tinday in daal it totally double the taste.
Re: For half cup daal...
Daal usually needs twice the amount of water. More water doesn't make it bad. It only makes it soggy.
Re: For half cup daal...
I thought it didn't matter how much water was added to daal as any excess water is drained away and the 'soggyness' depends on how long you boiled it for - not how much water you added.
