Bismihi Ta'la
Assalam o alaikum
brother Dhalim, perhaps I can get this answer from you,
naturally, the declaration of prophtehood, sets of this scenario were any one of the parties would label one another as a denier or a true claimant of the office of prophethood.
the hadith you shared, when understood in the context of Mirza Saheb's claim is irrelevant and has no contextual basis.
if you are infact suggesting that this hadith and its import to be true then both Ahmadies and non Ahmadies are true: then we do not need an affirmation of the prophethood, either of Mirza Saheb or for that matter of the credo of Islam: there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger.
i am not looking at this from a polemical poitn of view. i am understanding it from a purely theological perspective. if one claims prophethood and more so after the demise of the messenger of Allah, then it is a curse, since it sets apart the whole notion of who is false and who is true, and if that is true, then there has to be some evidence in the quran and the sunnah for the continuation of prophethood.
most of the works of mirza saheb that I have read, and i do accept his contribution to islam, when he talks of the continuation of prophethood, it is more of a logical inference, that was governed by the state of his time. there is no explicit evidence that this man shared.
can you shed more light on my train of thought. so far no ahmadi has been able to respond!
Iltimase duas
Abbas, Ali

brother, please take your time. one word of advice, even though it is difficult, make a point not to respond. a response well researched and treated is what we would enjoy, nothing less.
may Allah reward you for your sharing of the word 'khatam', even though i dis-agree with the usage of the term when used by the scholars. the Prophet (peace and benedictions) had explained this word as was revealed in many a traditions, and surely, there are many a words that have taken a different meaning altogether in the course of islamic history, for instance, imam, nikah etc. that is a whole subject.
with much regards and may He assist you in your endeavors,
br. Ali Abbas
