For all the Moth Smoke fans...

For all those that have read the book MOTH SMOKE by Mohsin Hamid, Geo will be showing the drama DAIRA, which is based on the novel.

It should be coming out soon…keep your eyes open

yeah, they will show the music program about this drama too.

it wus released back in 2002 along with being the first drama to feature over more than 15 to 20 artistes singing for the album of daira.

It s warth it to watch.

The book was awsome. I read it a few years back, loved it. It was very interesting and one of a kind. I'm looking to see what things they decide to leave out of the drama.

^ oh please! Why not? They're not showing any nudity in it, nor are there any obscene sex jokes. From what I understand, the movie shows a very real perspective on life in Pakistan.

I tend to disagree with you. The point of the drama is not to say that the lives they depict are that of the majority of pakistanis. Rather, it is to simply say that "here, this is SOMETHING that does happen in Pakistan".

So in no way would I generalize the movie to describe every Pakistani's life. But I would not turn my face away and say that this movie is not a reflection of the existence of such state of affairs in the country.

And I'm not implying anything about your family here. Rather, that sometimes many people don't like to watch risque scenes with their parents, pretending as if such things do not happen.

I never really understood the "not to be watched with the family" warnings that come along with honest movies such as Daira.

Why isn't it to be viewed with the family? Digital Surgeon, could you give us an example please?

I quite like Geo and Ary. They tend to air dramas that deal with/confront social issues which are usually swept under the rug in our culture. I'm assuming Daira does the same.

This drama has a really good soundtrack. I picked it up last year in Karachi. They'll be airing the Daira concert on Geo too where all the artists who took part on the soundtrack will be performing.

I don’t have the patience to download it on a computer. Give us some examples. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I might just buy it in Karachi next month. I think I’m gonna miss it when they air it. :bummer:

i don't have brothers, but I have watched movies that are far more sick with my parents. ex. The Guru.

dude, I dont know why my post was edited - who cares.

Re: For all the Moth Smoke fans...

my (one of my many) favorite quote/quotes:

Aaaah. The world floats at body temperature. Very nice, very nice. I'm in a seemingly better mood. My head is clear. Thoughts are coming one at a time, nicely formed. I like this. Well, I might as well admit it: sometimes hairy is god DAMN pleasant. Godamn pleasant, do you say? I do indeed, my dear sir, godamn pleasant. Nice little interior dialogue, that.

hmm well what do you know. It's about time for iftaar. Well, time to give your bladder a release. Get up now, that's a good fellow. One, two, three. Up. There you go. Takes a lot of effor, and energy level seems low, but no problem with motor control here. Stroll over to the bathroom. Turn on the light. Oops, no electricity. Whats this? A little nausea? Let it out, then. There. That wasn't bad at all. And again? No problem. Just let it come on up. Perfect. Now sit down, let your bladder relax, too. Great. Rinse your mouth and head back to the couch. Take a detour for a glass of water. Here's a glass. Here's the water.
