I feel that this guy deserved it...he did a very mean thing by making fun of these ppl on their tribute pages which are made by family!!!! There is always a limit to trolling..I felt this guy crossed the line!
It is extreme and malicious trolling . He is an idiot and deserved it. Most trolling is not this extreme and so malicious that is why those troll get away with it.
^ Agreed. This wasn’t just trolling it was utter disrespect. I would want to jail him but is that suppression of freedom of speech? The Westboro Baptist Church actually mocked the families of dead soldiers, in real life, and as far as I know legal action wasn’t taken against them so this jailing seems a bit unexpected.
Here’s a video on the Westboro Baptist Church. It’s pretty disturbing. On the other hand…THIS is actual trolling. Oprah gets rocked.
Wow, what an idiot! Totally deserves jailtime because the family of the teenager would want the law to take some sort of action against him. Why would anybody be interested in mocking someone's death is disturbing. People are jailed for cryber crimes all the time so this isn't really new. This is beyond trolling in my opinion.
He certainly deserves this 18 week jail time. Pouring salt into a wound for no purpose at all - and causing significant emotional distress - Hope he gets some counseling and turns his life around.
Correct me if I’m wrong but this incident happened in the UK, I know nothing about hte laws there…here in the US, if you tried to stop something like this, it could be seen as denying them their right to freedom of speech…
Also, his defense lawyers said that he had Aspergers, which can cause antisocial behavior…
Did the families of the dead soldier or somebody sued this church or complained to some authority ? If they did not they should.
I'm sure legal action has been taken against them. I know they are banned in some countries (UK I think) because they are considered a hate group.

Yeah this happened in the UK but the Westboro Baptist Church was the first thing that come to my mind. He may actually have a problem. The internet makes it so easy to spew hatred like this because you bypass that filter that normal interactions have.
