Japan clearly dominated a weak Pakistan in their round 2 group F match at Qatar Sports Club. The Pakistanis failed to settle early in the game and Japan stole a goal just three minutes after the off. Japan’s No 8, Keisuke Honda, slotted in an easy shot against an unready Pakistan defence.

After the first goal , most of the running was carried by Japan, who held ball possession for more than 70 percent of the time, while Pakistan did well to prevent a rout. All the stats played in Japan’s favour, with four shots and one shot on goal leading to their score.

A plucky Pakistan could not forestall the determined Japanese and their relentless pressure led to another goal in the 32nd minute, when Japan’s No 16 Hiroyuki Taniguchi slotted in the second. In the second half Pakistan came out determined to make good their deficit from the first half of the game, but an early foul gave the Japanese a free kick and forced Pakistan to scramble to clear the ball.

The action remained fast and furious throughout the second half. Japan sustained the pressure and early on after the restart the No 16 Hiroyuki Taniguchi scored his second goal of the evening for Japan to lead to 3-0

Clearly under pressure and with the chance of victory receding by the minute, Pakistan nonetheless demonstrated their character by staying in the game and redoubling their efforts. They were finally rewarded when Pakistan’s No 21 Muhammad Rasool scored in the 61st minute. They continued attacking and their No 2 Naveed Akram scored in the 82nd minute. It looked like Pakistan could equalise, but the game finished 3-2.

At Qatar Sports Stadium on 3 December Japan will now go on to face Syria at 17:15, while Pakistan face DPR Korea at 19:45.

The first match in this Asian Games for Pakistan started bad. After only 2 Minutes Japan scored after a nice free kick. Pakistan Goalkeeper Jaffar Khan expected a cross but Japanese Player Honda tried it with a direct kick and this was the 1-0.

Best players for Pakistan were Essa who had the only chance for Pakistan. Despite it was the only shot by Pakistan it was a very nice volley from about 22 Metres after a nice combination with Abdul Aziz. Ali Abbas the 16 years old player from National Bank Pakistan is a strong defender.

Pakistan needs to combinate. They should play as a Team and not handle the ball like a hot potato. After winning the ball in the Defence, Pakistan is loosing the Ball in the Midfield. But we have a good striker like Essa and if he has a good chance he shows that he has the talent to score even against the strong Japanese Players.

Bad scene was Abdul Aziz kicking a Japanese player while he was laying on the ground.

Football is a sport of poor people in Pakistan! So they pay less attention to it!

^ not really, football is getting popular in Pakistan now, and the 3-2 result is an amazing result! It's odd, but in defeat I'm congratulating the Pakistani team on a fine result..the Japanese are a World Cup standard side, so perhaps Pakistan might be seen in the next World Cup. Will have to wait and see how they perform against the Koreans for confirmation of this talent though.

Japan played only their U21 team in Asian Games..It was not their Senior team..That's why they lost to PR Korea and couldn't qualify for the QF's.
