…any suggestions? We do peanut butter n jelly, pizza, chicken (thank GOODness we recently got them eating the “real” chicken instead of the nuggets), grilled cheese, rice with gravy. looking for more kid-friendly ideas…
Re: foods for fussy kids
how abt fancy shaped bread? or u can use the cookie cutter to cut out shapes/alphabets ur kids like on da toast.
alphabet pasta
veggie/rice balls
kebab on ice-cream sticks
just be creative and make the food appealing according to their tastes and preferences.
my boy likes his food red and spicy, so i make use of tomatoes and some red chillies when i cook for him. he eats almost anything tats reddish/orangish cuz he associates those colors with spiciness!
Re: foods for fussy kids
Mamaof3 you're a "gora" wife (no racial biases) and I see that you've taken an open-minded approach to what kind of food you feed your kids (very good indeed) .. so if you wanna feed them desi foods at this point (where they've got used to pizza, peanut butter n jelly, rice n gravy etc.) they might have an uneasy time settling with the spiciness n piquancy of it.. so i suggest you wean them on desi foods (even if not the very spicy ones) from when they're about 6

How about Chicken Goujons - I saw the recipe on a BBC food programme aimed at food for fussy kids and have since made them for my 6 year old newphew who loves them....
Cut chicken breast into long inch think pieces, add salt pepper and a little green chillies (my desi addition!)
In one bowl put some sifted flour to which add a little red chilli powder and dhania/jeero (very SMALL amounts), in another bowl put some breadcrumbs, finally beat an egg in another bowl.
Then toss the chicken in the seasoned flour first, then in the egg and finally in breadcrumbs.
Place on a baking tray and cook in the oven until they are golden and crispy.
Serve with a selection of sauces....
Hope they go down well with you!
Re: foods for fussy kids
For my kids anything noodle or pasta goes down easily. Also anything with cheese on it (including vegetables). They love sweet potatoes, carrots and green peas. I add butter and olive oil to everything though to fatten them up. I generally feed them whatever I happen to make for dinner. Rice with aloo goshth is one example. But tacos that they can build themselves is a fun idea. Pizzas they make themselves is another fun idea.
My youngest, Maya is almost 2 now and in her most fussy stage. I'm finding that she is beginning to stick with certain favorites like cereal, cheese, fruit. With her I can only offer foods and hope she will try something new. Hopefully she'll grow out of this stage soon. I can see her ribs now and it's kinda scary. I'm buttering everything she eats!!

I know how you feel Saima.
Noor has chosen to be like Maya....indefinitely. I can't get her to try new things unless I threaten her with a time out. And even then she will take a bite and then choke and gag on it till there are tears in her eyes.
She's okay with toast....cheerios.....fries or those MCain smiles....but not much else anymore. And this from a kid that used to eat any and everything when she was under a year old.
