Food Combination: Pulao

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

This! I prefer my pulao without any salans.

Mutanjan is sweet rice dish, pretty much like zarda. One main difference is that instead of just yellow rice, it has multi color rice. Also lots of mewa.

Now! …as in after reading this thread, or after getting married?

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

Oh okay. I thought it referred to a mixure of sweet and salty rice. But I have heard people combining muntanjan/zarda with savaory chaawal…wonder if it’s more common in a partucular group such as punjabis.

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

Oppss..typo…I meant I love the combo and would love to have some now…

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

I think mutanjan is supposed to have some sort of meat in it too.It is sweet rice like zarda but with meat.

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

I love Pulao and Shami Kabab combination with a little bit of raita.

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

Yes, Mutanjan can have meat too. I am sure you have heard of Murgh Mutanjan

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

Some people put achar or tomato ketch up on pulao which is an insult for pulao - to my mind!

Pilau, pilaf or pulao cooked in many different variations from Russia to India!

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

I never deliberately tried the pulao and zarda mix although I have seen it being done by some elders in the family, I did try it accidentally once lol
A neighbour once sent pulao and zarda rice in a plate , half on one side half the other so naturally some rice got mixed up, it was actually nice but still I wouldn’t do it on purpose. To each his own, if you like it …enjoy!

Btw, I made chicken pulao rice today and aloo gosht shorba.

Re: Food Combination: Pulao

I like pulao alone or with shami kabab, adding Salan or raita ruined the taste of pulao.
