There are so many variations, with pasta, with peas, with aloo, korma style keema, karahi style keema, keema paratha etc

My dad makes good keema, MA. It’s dry’ish…and sooo fine in texture…I’m not a fan of chunky/mota keema…with lots of finely sliced ginger and peppercorns. Keema with bell peppers is nice too.

^Oh how could I have forgotten. I love, love, LOVE karelay stuffed with keema. My mom finds them labor intensive, so unfortunately they’re not made as often. But it’s my favorite way of eating karelay…such an interesting combination of textures and flavors…and they go nicely with mint chutney.
And, yes, you are right that it’s qeema or qeemah. I have to remind myself sometimes to spell it with q.

Muqa, ok, though I had to look it up , as to what the difference was in the two, but I will correct myself now , Qeema it is
RV, I had the pleasure of having Qeema filled karelay in pakland , it was the best thing ever I had in life ! but I dont think it’s every one’s cup of tea though.. karelay have to be like, extremely soft and soggy and not rubbery or else they lose their taste ..

Its daal filled karelas (cut karela, remove seeds, put karela in imli / namak wala pani for an hour or so). For filling, in our home, we use channe ki daal… filling also contain some anaar daana and mint leaves.
For karela to be be less bitter, putting them in imli, lassi or namak water do the trick. Also, using more than normal onions in karela dishes make them less bitter.
My Doctor maamoo says that karelas seeds are good for health and I have seen these seeds being cooked (most of the time fried with onion) in our home. My khala use to make karele ka achar as well.

oh, I thought you were asking for karela daal…
qeema daal is simple channe ki daal + qeema. It goes well both with roti and rice.

Keema is not high on my list of preferred foods.
Used to sigh,the day Mum made keema and peas. or any keema salan.
Fav is keema paratha (with katcha keema, not cooked keema)..(in this form I can eat keemea paratha endlessly but made by Mum only)
My phopho was famous for her Keema katlambeh (kinda stuffed keema naan, out of this world).
Variations I cook, but seldom eat, esp if using beef :

My fav is methi-palak qeema. Others matar qeema, aloo qeema, dum ka qeema, awadhi qeema, green chillies qeema, green lobia beans with qeema, bhindi qeema, kakronday qeema, qeema pulo, samosa wala qeema etc.
