Starting with mine, I have the following in Gel colors :
Claret ( pink ), Ice blue , navy blue, brown, purple, red , yellow, green
Got the following in powder form :
Yellow, orange, red, green

I have the yellow powder one and orange gel one.Both are used on the rare occasions I make biryani.

Chips I use the yellow , red and orange one for biryani as well .. I keep changing the colors coz we get so bored , and the color changes the entire look of the dish ![]()

I have yellow, red and orange in powder form for zarda, biryani and sooji ka halwa.
Then I have many different colours for tinting icing. Can’t even remember all of them.

I have some leftover blue and green from an year or so. I really avoid food coloring as much possible.

I don’t use food colors, use turmeric powder as food colour for biryani ![]()

I also avoid food colouring. The only one I have is egg yellow coloured powder for zarda.
I also use haldi for biryani.
My mum uses haldi to colour her zarda.

i have yellow and orange ,but i mostly use yellow in biryani .

Food colors should seriously be avoided. They are nothing but a bunch of artificial chemicals.
For biryani, turmeric is best but I don’t mind biryani without any yellow color either.

yeah I guess you guys are right but for occasional use and to make the food beautiful its ok , what say ?

for red colour I use tomato purree it gives beautiful colour to gravy
Only orange powder color. I avoid colors too.
For those using turmeric for biryani color how do you do it?

I want to know the turmeric colouring bit as well .. I mean does it not give the taste in zarda if used?
Also , by no means am I recommending the use of colors in the salan. I meant decorating desserts or yoghurts or rice in some cases and ofcourse cakes and cookies

How about using natural colours straight from the flowers or fruits?

just before dum mix turmeric wth little water and pour over rice and then give dum then mix
