so i love my cakes with fondant covering etc… but i dont know if its the bakers here or the technique but .. i cant eat more tahn a few spoons.. i end up removing the entire foncant covering and eating the cake by itself.. cuz i find the fondant way too sweet and thick and chewy.
well the latter its meant to be.. but is it something the bakers are doing wrong ( i have tried 2 diff bakers but the problem persists).. or is that just the way its meant to be.. thick and utterly sweet?
cakes look gorgeous with fodant coverings but NO ONE ate more than a spoon recently at midget’s bday party (the same happened the last time i served cake with fondant).. everyone took the layer of fondant off and ate the cake alone.
whats up folks?! is it just a matter of taste preferenace?
I've had the same experience, but when making cakes.... icing and frosting and fondants are so lovely and fun to decorate wiht, but nothing beats the taste of fresh, plain cake.
waise never seen cupcakes wiht fondant, do you mean the frosting/icing? or is that something new now (covering cupcakes wiht fondant?)
There is a thread "Dekorering af kager" -- just search in Google, where you can see some amazing pics of fondant cakes. I think you need a "see picture" profile though, but it takes like 2 mins to make one.
I make custom fondant cakes. I started out with making my own marshmallow fondant, which is delicious but hard to work with. Now I just buy store bought fondant.
Wilton has one, it's not tasty at all. I just started working with 'Satin Ice' fondant, which tastes sooooo good. Just like candy!
Not many people prefer eating it though, it's more for decorating purposes. Many people, myself included, like to take it off and only eat the cake and frosting underneath.
Fondant is suppose to be like this.

Hi, I get mine from globalsugarart dot com. You can find it on amazon too :) If you think wilton is tasty you have to try satin ice!! 'Fondarific' is also delicious!! Try that one too, it's so easy to work with and tastes like cotton candy .. yummy!!
