At dawats , kids like to fill their plates to the brim and then try to waste all that food by either throwing it in the bins themselves or just leaving all that food in the sink …
Do you think its a good idea to pack that left over food from kids and hand it to their mom to take home , rather then binning it all ? or would you consider it quite rude an act ?
Re: Focus Group - Kids , dawats and wasting food ..
At dawats, I purposely put in very little food on my kids plates because I hate wasting. The host works hard at putting things together so as guests we should respect their efforts. If major food is left over, I do ask the host to give me a ziploc or container so I could take it home.
As a host, I usually put the food on the side and let the parent decide what they want to do at the end.

Nikki, I am so glad there are still sane people in this world ..
I have a question , when you keep the food aside , do the parents actually consider taking that food with them, on their own without you having to let them know? coz in my case , they expect that i pack them the other khana not the leftovers
Re: Focus Group - Kids , dawats and wasting food ..
So far, what I've experienced is that moms just come up to me with their kids plates and say to please put them aside as their kid hasn't eaten and would like to take the food home. Sometimes, the kids are older and unsupervised so they put their plates away on their own...in which case I just toss the leftovers. And yes, we do pack some fresh food as well, all the time, but usually in addition to the leftovers. I let the parent decide on that.
