I have been miserable with flu and fever repeatedly since September, it’s getting ridiculous. Now I’m thinking of getting vaccinated but not too sure about the whole thing. Have ye ever received any flu shots? Are there any risks and side effects to be aware of?
Re: Flu vaccinations
I got mine done this year. Very quick and didn't really hurt either. Side affects can include flu like symptoms and headaches up to a maximum for 48 hours after.
Re: Flu vaccinations
i created a thread on FLU shots earlier and most people said they got one...yes, it's helpful...even if you get a flue, the effects will be minimal. i have been getting it for the last 3 years and i had NO bouts with flue in 3 years...before that, i used to get a couple of times evfery winter...
...one must wash hands frequently to reduce the risk of getting one.
Re: Flu vaccinations
I wouldn’t, especially after reading stuff like this, better to be safe than sorry, and be sick for a few days…

Re: Flu vaccinations
if you already got the flu in september, you are already immune to this season's flu, possibly next year's too. no need to get a flu shot.
Re: Flu vaccinations
princess87.. lol really you believe that?
Huma.. you also need to know the difference between cold and flu... cold is our regular nazla zukam that everyone gets once in a while- flu, however, makes you so sick that you are bedridden for almost a week and most probably end up in the ER.. I get flu reports from the area doctors and so far we had three people down with real flu..by the way, thats a lot for us, so early in flu season! and last but not least, flu vaccine will not prevent cold at all.
Re: Flu vaccinations
One my bachas came down with influenza right before Christmas..it was awful…he just got over it, and now Husbaand is down with the flu too
Both tested positive for influenza A..I took the other two kids to the ped’s office to see if they should get the vaccine and she went ahead and have it to them since they have not come down with yet. fingers crossed
And GTG is right, this year’s flu strain is awful, I know of two cases in our family where the flu turned into pneumonia real fast.
Re: Flu vaccinations
I try to get everyone in my family get a flu shot. It is awful if you get the flu......not worth it at all. The side effects are just a sore arm the day of and maybe some mild injection site reactions (red and such).......but I haven't seen anything too serious.
But yeah like Queer said if you already got the flu then no need to get the shot this season.
Re: Flu vaccinations
Are you sure it's flu and not norovirus?
Re: Flu vaccinations
flu jab only contains the flu virus that is thought to be prominant that year. It wonts protects you from the 100s of other possible viruses
