There’s a vaccination for under 4s for flu, which is given through the nose. the nasal spray one. Has anyone given their kids this? What are the pros and cons of this vaccination. Usually I give all vaccines to my kids just thinking about this one. It’s sort of mandatory in the UK unless you decline the offer
We have that one available in the U.S. too. Its called the flu mist or nasal mist. It can be given to adults too. I have given it to my kids and had it myself as well. Its supposed to be more effective than the shot as it's a live vaccine. However, kids or adults with asthma should not get the flu mist especially kids 2-4, they should get the vaccine instead. Anyone with asthma, especially children or seniors should get vaccinated against the flu, as getting the flu could bring on an attack.
Sigh. You honestly make yourself look stupid at the best of times.
I have been having the vaccine for years as i have had asthma all my ljfe. Ask your GP of the risks the leaflets ars self explanatory. Im sure in previous topics you raise the issue of your child and respiratory problems so if the vaccine is there to help minimise risks especially over winter i know what my choice would be.
Double sigh
I was being sarcastic man my question related to kids under 4. Not adults. I'm not concerned about adults or myself I have had them too but wondered wether i was doing the right thing when lots of kids don't get flu vaccinations

I did give you a detailed answer about that. You should give them the flu vaccine, it hardly hurts anyways, infact my kids prefer the shot (jab) to the nasal spray.
It's not 'mandatory' in the U.K at all. It's completely optional. The NHS really are pushing it for anyone and everyone. Kids/ adults/ elderly / pregnant women.
In my sons school we received consent forms which for my son I opted out for. Why would I put foreign medicine in his body when the consequence of actually getting flu is not that serious.
Same me reason I chose not have it when pregnant. I know a few people who have had the flu jag and have been really ill with it.
Personally i I think it's not necessary and feel there's other reasons for the government/ NHS pushing the flu jab. Is flu life threatening? Ppl have had it for years and it won't actually stop you getting a cold now will it.
Yes FLU is and can be life threatening.. there is difference between cold and flu.. cold doesnt kill you but flu can especially if you already have a weak immune system!
Anyone who commonly uses “mujhe flu ho gaya” needs to read this:
I agree, the reason most insurances cover it and even work places are offering this vaccine free of cost in Capitalist USA is because of loss of work days and school days. I used to catch flu a lot when I used to work in Karachi and miss out on so much work. The flu vaccine was not available there then. I have had very few times since I have come to the U.S. However, the flu mist may not be safe for kids with asthma. But asthmatic kids should have the flu vaccine if that’s what their doctor recommends as getting the flu would be worse for kids with asthma.
