As the weather changes there’s always a campaign to have flu shots taken, like at work etc.
Do you take one? I do take flu shots but i’ve spoken with many people who are very much against it and say it effects our immune system adversely? Do you think the same way?
Flu shots are not recommended to otherwise healthy adults. Here, flu shots are only recommended if you’ve a chronic disease, you’re pregnant, age over 65 or very overweight (it’s also free for these groups). The flu shot is only recommended to these groups due to increased risk of complications.
Studies have also shown that flu shot really doesn’t have any great benefit for otherwise healthy adults.
Personally, I think if you’re healthy, there is really no need for flu shot.
No. Some people may experience fever, discomfort etc but no serious adverse. Earlier on there was talk about some neurological disturbances due to the flu shot but as far as I remember studies have shown that there is no such link with the type of vaccine used today.
Please get your flu shot and stop trying to be doctors. Follow the guidelines set in your country.
You may be a healthy adult but getting vaccinated means you're less likely to get a subacute infection and pass it onto others that you're around like your elderly and your kids and immunocompromised people ex. Your HIV positive tharki uncle in the neighborhood that doesn't know he has HIV yet. It will prevent deaths and decease hospitalizations globally so next time you go to the ER there isn't a 25 hr wait to see a doctor for your migraine to get that MRI that you think you need because Cosmo magazine told you that you're dying. Which incidentally is the same source you're getting false info on the flu vaccine.
i always get my shots every year in november and it definitely protects you [with the Grace of Allah almighty]. i had about 5 onsets of flu in the last year but the effects were so mild that i got better within a few hours after taking a couple of tylenol caplets. i did not lose even a single day due to flu.
yes, please do get your flu shots now as it helps prevent getting flu. believe me, it works and its harmless.
I've been pretty good about getting vaccinated for the past 3 or 4 years. My lungs are weak and prone to infection so I take the precaution.
Past two I've made sure that my daughter got it as well and she has managed to remain healthy.
The recommendations are there for a reason and I'm sure the people who made them weren't drunk or crazy in the moment. Having said that, getting a vaccine should always be a personal choice (not a guilt trip), because you never know how you react. Studies may show that the vaccine is harmless, but you are never 100 % sure. The highest specialized neurology department here refuses to get vaccinated due to the adverse effects (due to vaccine) they see regularly, which is kind of interesting I guess.
And it's also important to understand that the vaccine isn't 100 % effective, it doesn't "eliminate" flu or give you a full protection (it actually has a very modest effect on healthy adults). For most people, it basically just reduces the intensity of your flu symptoms, so you don't get as sick as you would without the vaccine meaning you can get flu even after being vaccinated which means you can still cough on someone and spread it. Claiming that mass vaccinating the public is the answer is odd IMO, but I also belong to a system where we try to avoid over-medication. It would be better to educate the public on general hygiene like wash hands, cough/sneeze in your arm sleeves not hands/each other, stay at home etc etc.
No. Let the natural immune system deal with it as this is not a serious illness.
If it were, this would be mandatory, just like the other mandatory vaccinations.
How much money these pharmaceuticals are making from flu vaccine each year alone?
