Eta Carinae…a doomed star, located 8,000 light years away from earth…captured by Hubble, as it emits clouds of dust, gases and radiation. 100 times larger than the sun, 5 million times brighter, it is one of the biggest stars in our galaxy. 150 years ago, the star exploded, and emmited as much visible light as would a supernova explosion…but despite that, it survived the explosion, and did not dissipate completely. Goes to show how big it is.
