Flowers from Pakistan

Hey

Has anyone tried ordering flower from Pakistan for their wedding. I’m talking about you know the traditional ganda (marigold) flower? does anyone know how I would order them? I was thinking of gettting my cousin to buy like 100 strands and then DHL or FedEx by the over night thing.

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

that might be the best idea to have a cousin or friend do it because who knows what service can be trusted?

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

Call fedex and DSL and find out what their policy is for bringing over all that stuff. Also, do find out if customs will tax you.

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

hmm I should call them and find out.

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

custom/duty aside, dont forget most countries (like Canada) dont allow you to import flowers/plants (unless you have a license for it)

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

FedEx started this overnighter to UK, so if that's where you are .. you're in luck!

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

Oooh just saw .. you're in Canada ... forget about it then ... Canadian customs is the most horrible one!! They wont let em through!

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

u can get marigold in canada! i think indian stores do have them....... check it out.... and if u are in toronto.... then u can get ppl to make u all the gajras and garlands

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

Uggh I hate candaian customs always so difficult.. I wish I was still living in T.O everything would be so much easier. We have family friends in B.C they said they would look into it.. butI donno lets see what happens..

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

another question about flowers....is it possible to get jasmine in december? i wanted my flower jewelery to be made out of motia but it doesnt look like its available. even if i could special order it i would, i just dont know where to go?

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

I dont think you can find it anywhere in north america other than desi houses.. my moms has 2 huge plants but they arent enough flower on it to make jewllery out of. You might have to get them from Pakistan.

^oops sorry, i meant in Pakistan :) for weddings during the winter in Pakistan, is it possible to get flower jewelery made of motia or do you have to settle for another flower?

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

fasaadi, jasmine is chambeli. there's a few kinds of motia available but theyre mostly available in summer

sorry i just never understood what the difference is between beyla, chameli and motia, are they just different types of jasmine?

thanks bride2be, do you have any recommendations for where i could order whatever type of jasmine that will be available in winter?

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

motia is also called jasmine. but it can be differentiated by jasmine sambac or arabian jasmine. I have been searching for motia for past one month and finally found it in our neighborhood mall, at the florist. a pakistani aunty ordered her and florist only got two. i was the second lucky one... :D

but ya the florist was telling that u can grow jasmine in-doors in winter. and put it bak out-doors in summer.

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

you can order tuberoses from hawaii...they smell very nice...a lot like motia...

Re: Flowers from Pakistan

will let u know
