Who has been to Florida, in particular to Miami? Is it a suitable holiday destination for desis?
Re: Florida
Why would a certain area be not suitable for a holiday destination for any sect of the world? I've seen Aamish people in Silicon Valley for God's sake!
Re: Florida
I think he means in terms of beaches and women in revealing clothes.
In the summer you will most likely see women in short, tight dresses. At the beaches u will see them mostly in bikinis if not nude or topless. If you're family is conservative you definitely don't want to go to Miami Beach.
I went to South Beach and stayed at the Shore Club. I was there for three days. That's one spot you never want to bring conservative relatives to regardless of the season. But the hotel is very fun and trendy. That area is also very very fun. If you wanna go anywhere on Miami Beach you will have more fun with your fiance/spouse or with friends.
^ i agree. the beach itself is beautiful...more so than a lot of other east coast beaches. the art deco district is nice, too.
Re: Florida
I live in Miami Florida. Grew up and was born here. I personally love it!!!
we have soo much to do. PM if you have questions!
Re: Florida
^yes Miami is a wonderful place. But don't go to the beaches if ur going there with conservative relatives. There are many other things to do as well other than going to the beach.
Re: Florida
South Beach is perfectly clean and full of families on weekdays around sunset. There are a lot of other beaches as well, that are more family friendly, but the water on south beach is really amazing and something to see. The south end of South Beach now has a family friendly park on the water - I think called South Pointe park. Key Biscayne is beautiful, and its beaches are more secluded. Virginia Key too. Also, there are lots of fishing sites too and boating through the Everglades National Park (watch out for the alligator babies - they jump through the air). Lets see...Crandon Park is a nice beach area close to the South Beach area...Also, People get off on Rickenbacker highway as it traverses beautiful water, and there are mini-beaches along the road, and also bridges for fishing. There are a number of beaches further up north with lots of restaurants and eateries too, like Ft. Lauderdale beach, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach, Hollywood Beach, etc. Whereever you go, there will be alcohol and bars, but you don't have to drink any or hang out in the area.
There is lots of stuff to do - just go to the Miami Dade website for Parks and you'll see all their information, and you can call as well and get more information - ask for family friendly spots for vacationing on the beach.
As far as nudity is concerned, you can ask around where the nudity (top exposed) spots are on South Beach, and just avoid them.

:) I guessed that much. But why bring the whole "desi" community into this? Conservative people are there in the white and black communities too.

Thank you, that's exactly what I meant.
