Guys , I need help yet again with my drawing room setting
Since we will be ordering furniture from Pakistan , I reckon its going to take a good 8-12 months, coz we aint going to Pakistan as yet …
We do have a leather three seater at the moment , but its not going to be enough in the new house … so we were thinking of temporary floor seating ideas , maybe ?
It would be useless to get in cheaper couches or chairs , coz then we seriously wouldnt know what to do with them later on and nothing is cheaper in the UK !
get a nice rug , that is thick and some big cushions , gao takkiye type . u know the big cylindrical things and arrange them against the wall on the rug.
this should be comfortable . i like sitting on the floor as long there is thick carpet and then a rug and cushions .. its better than any sofas.
Mizz, so say if someone rests their back or head against the wall .. wont the walls get stained with time ?? I have noticed that occasionally happening with floor seatings …
Masi , I dnt like the ideas think some more … hubby said used duvet fold ker kai daal do , then cover it with the bed sheet and put some cushions on it … I just want something classy you know … maybe i need to see some more floor seating pictures
Hareem, mate , the whole issue is that we dont want to spend on anything temporary furniture coz later its going to be so much hassle to get rid of it all .. you know what i mean …
I don't have a pic of this but I have seen a headboard done this way....
you secure a curtain rod on the wall at about 28" high and then you hang cushions from it as well as cushions on the floor.....instant backrests and no stain/marks on the walls.
classy and purpose-built so nobody wonders what you have going on.
You know I always think about the same thing. We do have furniture but living in NYC we also have a lot of people visiting us all the time. At times we do need more seating. My only thing is... we have hardwood floor.. how does floor seating work on that?
I wouldn’t worry about the issue of getting rid of furniture, it’s so easy to sell it on nowadays especially on ebay or gumtree. I bought everything from Ikea for my first home as it was only a flat and meant to be temporary and managed to sell it 2-3 years later for around 60-70% of what it initially cost which surprised me somewhat.
However, now that I’ve moved I realise that it was perhaps a hasty decision to sell everything before the move as the sofas that I have ordered are going to take three months to arrive and so I’ve had to buy a cheapo sofa from ikea again to make do while I wait
