Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

We have been furious on Inzi, Nazir, Tendz and Sehwag etc etc for last four weeks.

Now since the tournament is about to enter into the final three clashes and we have seen enough of the players performance to judge them, who do you think is the biggest and complete flop of the tournament. In my opinion, if you take out the unprofessional pregnant Indo-Pak players, Flintoff is the biggest disappointment of this Worldcup. Its like Inzamam of Worldcup 2003. Flintoff has not even failed as an allrounder, disappointed his fans and nation but also has not delivered on the ocassions where his team needed a little performance from him to rise. I don’t know how can a world class allrounder, for which the whole world was thinking of as a new Botham for England, can be in such a bad form that he can’t score in double digits. He has been a liability in this world cup.

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

Perhaps he should change his name to 'Flinflop'

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

That is true, his was should join the elite class of this world cup as failures.

However, i also blame England captaincy and think tank. All the sky commentators were saying that Vaughan should drop himself and bring Flintoff in early to give him match practise. He should have been given that against the likes of Ireland and Bangladesh. Now they are out and the WI encounter is a meanlingless one for both teams.

This world cup Super 8 has seen very few interesting matches, on 2 occasions it was SL who made the game exciting and then it was SA vs Bangladesh. Today's match between SA and England was termed as a Quarter Final like clash, the winners were sure to qualify for the Semis. But England having won the Toss, just were pathetic. Their batting was horrible and after like 6 overs they only had 7 runs scored. What the heck, Vaughan cannot open. It was quite a unusual sight that both England openers do not have any ODI century to their name. Neither Vaughan nor Bell. Bell is talented player but surely Vaughan is only good for his captaincy cannot make use of the PowerPlay. England have a lot of think about before the WI tour and I think its time for a change in personnel and management. Goodbye Fletcher and Vaughan.

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

Flintoff has been pretty good as a fast bowler but a failure as a batsman. IMO he is not a number 6 batsman but that is how England play him. So he is not a complete failure and complete dead weight.

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

Yeh he was Englands only decent fast bowler but his batting was shockingly bad...some of his dismissals would have been embarrassing for a number 11...

But forget him for a moment...Vaughan is useless...whilst we're debating Shoaib Malik and his credentials as a player i think its fair to say that an average of 15 throughout a world cup was disgraceful...Joyce should never have been dropped...they should have opened with him and Strauss and maybe put Vaughan down the order...

Monte was useless...only people that can say they had a good world cup are collingwood and bopara...hes a good find...he was brilliant today and against sri lanka...

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

They should have let Freddy continue his binge drinking. Ever since they took away his booze...he's not getting and runs or wickets!

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

:omg:

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

In all honesty, Arrogance is not liked by Allah.

In a sledging video, Andrew who was batting was recorded as tellling, if I remember correctly, Bravo or Smith of WI that Duwayne won't be around in 2-3 years and said he (Flintoff) can bet on it...he said "lets see if your around in x years"...and all the WI player was doing was cheering his bowler, "come on come on lets get the Big man out....!" nothing more really. You should have seen the look in the West Indian fielders eyes, he couldn't believe Flintoff audacity.

Well for all that matters, Flintoff might not be around pretty soon if he continues his downword spiral. Arrogance and pride..all in the wrong way...tsk.. tsk...
You might say that eveybody sledges, but these were some sharp words uttered in a really condescending way...
This IMHO.

what was the old saying..."Pride hath a fall"....

Re: Flintoff, the biggest flop of the tournament

Flintoff should have opened. What could they have lost? Vaughan's scintillating starts?
