**England will make a decision on whether all-rounder Andrew Flintoff is fit to play in the fourth Ashes Test with Australia on the morning of the match.**Struggling with a knee injury, Flintoff only batted at England’s first practice session ahead of the Headingley Test.

Flintoff told BBC Radio 5 live: “I desperately want to play. A decision will probably be made on Friday morning after Thursday’s practice.”

The Lancashire all-rounder was key to England’s second Test win at Lord’s.

The 31-year-old Flintoff followed that man-of-the-match display that gave England a 1-0 lead in the five Test series with an impressive knock of 74 in the third Test at Edgbaston.

Should England risk Flintoff in the fourth Test
“I’ll have a full practice [on Thursday] and see where we’re at,” added Flintoff, who has been icing his injured knee.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting said earlier this week that he could tell Flintoff was struggling with injury during the third Test.

“Visibly you could see he went downhill pretty quickly through the course of this game, so his injury is probably starting to take a bit more effect than we actually realised,” he said.

“But we will prepare as if he is going to play and see what happens on the morning of the game.”
