What is the avg. cost of tickets for a family of 6 to pak nowadays. It has been a few years since we have been, and last time I used cheaptickets.com but this time I am getting sticker shock! 3 adults, 3 kids
Anyone know of good travel agents in the DC area? What about in the New York area? We are going in may/june.
Also, i heard inflation is pretty high right now. How much cash should we carry for a couple of months? We wil be doing some shopping, and taking family members out, possibly to murree. Are ATMs all over now?
Fares go up in early June (depending on the airline). This year, I have booked Virgin-Emirates combo from San Francisco to Karachi for my family. The travel will start before peak season kicks in (June 9) and they are returning end of August. I am getting adult fare for $1340, and kids for $1150. From New York it should be cheaper by at least 300 bucks, I'd assume.
During the peak season (my fare), goes up to $1770 for adult tickets. Same airline combo.
if anyone is flying from the West Coast, try Singapore Airlines. Their return fare to Lahore from Vancouver is $1420 until April 29..I would imagine it would be around the same from SF or LA..
Singapore Airlines was about 1,000 bucks plus taxes from SFO. With taxes of about $250-300, it comes pretty close to Virgin-Emirates, and the route from the Pacific is always more tiring than the one from over Europe.
^ well, anytime you add two lay-overs going to Pakistan, the journey become very tiring. I don't mind going either direction as long as it's only one stop; which takes Lahore out as the final destination from Vancouver. From here, you can either fly to Karachi or Islamabad with one stop - not lahore and it truly sucks. Singapore airlines is the next best option with one hr stop in Seoul, but no change of planes.
Not sure how it goes from Vancouver, but from SFO, Singapore Airlines stops at HK and Singapore, before getting to Pakistan. Its the first leg of the travel that really kills you (so to speak). Especially flying over water all the time.
The cheapest airline right now from New York is of course PIA ($1120) for May-June and that is offered by Popular Travels.. if you need their contact info let me know.
I just got my ticket booked for Pakistan travelling at the end of May by Emirates airline and it has cost me no more than $1240 including my visa to stay over in Dubai. Their offer is valid until March 29th so you should get your ticket ASAP. Also, if you take Emirates on weekends, it is just extra $20!
and yes there are ATMs in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi.. Also, just make sure you use your credit card instead of debit card to avoid some extra fees. I have never used one, but that’s what I have heard from my friends.
