^ I used to leave when the manager was looking the other way, many times he used to see me sneaking past him one hour after the scheduled close and he’d see his watch and say “aaj tou baRay jaldi ja rahay ho” Another thing since I was the only engineer in that department, I was supposed to answer phone calls 24/7 (365 days a year), remember even that phone and SIM were mine . He used to mind it if some day I didnt pick up the phone at 3 or 4 am. Dont remind me of that period now.

Thats another thing its that experience which has got me the present job.

you know Ali, in the initial years of one’s career, I think most people go through this tough phase of working long hours coz that is how their careers get built up .. I have gone through the same phase and learnt with time ultimately that its worth doing a few initial years but not through out your career..

And its very much down to the employees to set the management’s expectations right , once you accept the crap they give you , you will be doing it for your entire lifetime at that company , without being acknowledged even once !!! so set it right from day one , have that confidence in yourself and that is how management will always see you and believe me it will bring you greater long term rewards ..
