New South Wales side comparable to Pak: Fleming
REUTERS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 01, 2002 12:52:56 PM ]
ADELAIDE: The New South Wales state side to play South Australia in a one-day game on Saturday appears a stronger batting line-up than the Pakistan national team, former test bowler Damien Fleming said on Friday.
“We were just talking about the Pakistan team. It looks pretty good against that,” South Australia’s Fleming told reporters in Adelaide on Friday.
“It’s outstanding isn’t it, you’ve got to be honest and as a bowler that’s a challenge.”
Australia swept Pakistan 3-0 in a three-test series in Colombo and Sharjah earlier this month.
Pakistan were all out for 59 and 53 in the second test, losing by an innings and 198 runs inside two days and prompting Australia selector Allan Border to say most second-grade Sydney club sides could do better.
The New South Wales team on Saturday will include Steve and Mark Waugh and Michael Bevan, all veterans of Australia’s 1999 World Cup-winning side against Pakistan at Lord’s.
Steve is the second most-capped player in test history with 151 appearances, while Mark, who retired from international cricket this week, is fifth with 128.
Steve remains test captain and said this week he was hopeful of regaining a place in the one-day team for next year’s World Cup defence in South Africa.
Fleming, 32, a right-arm bowler who has taken 75 wickets at 25.89 in 20 Tests, crossed from Victoria to South Australia before the 2002-03 domestic season. He also played in the World Cup final of 1999, taking one for 30 off six overs.
I think they can say that and make fun of PAK due to what they did to PAK in the 3 test series. But I can bet in ODI the situation will be different. Time will tell when PAK meets AUS next time.
Aussies think they are Gods of cricket, i sincerely hope English win this ashes series :k:
They forogot what happened to them against sri lanka and what can happen to them even against Pakistan facing Shoaib and Co ,
I say Ponting and Hayden from Austrailian line-up and bring in two new comers , Lets see how they fare then! THey wil lpefrom well but they rely on those two the most just like Pakistan do on Inzi and Youhana ..
Takeout Warne and McGrath in their bowling lineup and you have nothing left.
Takeout Ponting and Hayden and Australia will loose miserably.
Any bowler in Pakistan is good as Fleming, thats why he was booted off the team.

What kind of logic is that ?
Take out Shoaib, Wasim, Waqar and Inzamam and the Pakistan team might lose to Papua New Guinea !! :D
Take out Sachin, Sehwag,Saurav and Dravid and you will have an Indian team that is as pathetic in batting as it is in balling...
I dont get it... do you... the "take out" thing I mean.
During this month we have seen our team being compared to Sydney Club Sides ( AB ) and now to NSW ( Damian Fleeming).
As Paki fans, we should get used to these comments and comparisions. Despite the talent, when our team performs as pathetically as it did, they deserve a joke or two against them.
And I also diagree with Umair's theory of "take-out".
Well if you takeout main players from a side, you are bound to play pathetically no matter what, than what is the logic if making fun of a side without its main stars. I could have understand if Pakistan were humiliated with their main players than they joke would have made sense.
What a stupid comment made by a bowler I had respect for.

Take the whole 11 out of Australian test team and let Australia 'A' face any of the test playing nations. I bet Australia 'A' will still score more than what Pakistan scored against the Aussies in the last test series.
It was just SILLY, IRRESPONSBILE batting, not expected from this level of cricketers.
I take his comment as a compliment. Come on whom are we kidding, our pathetic performace "with or without stars" was exposed for so many series that I would not be offended if any tom dick and harry compare us with Bangldesh batting line up.
I hope we play better this series, sick and tired of the promises and excuses made by the team
Pakistans team should be ashmed of themselves... They suck horribly.
They put Pakistan to shame...Unles they make some serious adjusements, they wont make it. If they even make it half way thru the World Cup, I will eat my hat.
Pakistan team needs to prove they are good, by playing well in the field. Sirf barhkein marnay say kaam nahi chalay ga.
Commending ourselves on our past laurals and sitting pretty by saying we are a "hugely talented" bunch, who can defeat any team on a "given day" story has gone on for a long time. Till they actually play well on the field, it is futile for their supporters to suggest we are good.

Now please advise :
Salt : Rock or Sea
Pepper : Black or Red
Mark my words : Pakistan will at least make the Semi Finals. Finals and Win? In God's Hands

Not only that, but they also have to play consistently well... No winning over Australia one day, and then losing to Bangladesh the next.
Pakistani team sucks a$$… And if they make it to the semis they are going to make a huge blunder and make Pakistan look even worse then they did at the last World Cup.
They are better of not getting there at all!!!
BUT if they make it, AND WIN, then I will eat my Old Navy cap with Rock Salt, but no pepper. Maybe a litttle salad dressing though… Yeah, I think Ranch.
shabash, Adnan, you are a proud Pakistani in every way!
Mister, its okay to be angry and disappointed on the no-doubt-pathetic performance of our team but for once, hope for the best. A few good wins, thats all we need right now and you might be forced eat your words, your cap
Insha’allah they will make it to finals and make it count this time :k:
Our batting and team in general are crap, i have lost all interest in Cricket-thats why I have stopped posting (up until now) on this particular forum, Pakistan is just one disappointment after anoter.
Our bowling is ****e now too, Waqar and Wasim are old, past it and just making fools of themselves, Saqlian is distinctly average and Sami and the medium pacers (Raz/Mahmood) are only half decent stock bowlers. Shoaib alone is worth fussing over, and her's injured 99% of the time.
Less said about our batting the better, we are one of crickets worse teams.

Pakistan has some of the world's most gifted players in its ranks.
Lack of MOTIVATION and UNITY is what undones Pakistan.
