I have been asked to include these two particularly in my diet … so I got a packet each of the two seeds… now the taste is bearable but I need to know how i can eat this stuff in bigger quantities…
I included a tablespoon of each in my omelette this morning .. it became really stiff and heavy …
someone recommended me to pop a few tablespoons of each in the morning cereal …
i put a spoon in a milkshake, also you can include it in your roti atta, it doesnt taste so much that way. best thing to do is actually take flaxseed capsules.
wow thanks so much Clothesmad... I was thinking of adding it in the roti ata as well and then thought what if roti goes stiff too like the anda .... but i will try it inshallah ...
I intentionally didnt go for the capsules , coz i wanted to get the nutrients as much as possible from natural sources or directly from the seeds ... you reckon i am being too particular?
I use cold milled flax seed from flaxusa , and mix it into my oatmeal every morning , on the days when I do not eat oatmeal I mix it in half a glass of fat free milk and drink it.
It is finely grounded using a patented method which keeps all the oils of flax seed intact and does not have any taste issues. I buy it from Sams Club.
Thanks for the info Mirch , we have limited choice of Flax seed here in the UK ... the one i got is milled , not as finely ... but does the magic for me ... i will try to mix it in my oatmeal tomorrow morning and see how it works out .. thanks for sharing that ..
By the way, how is flaxseed helping you guys? whats the health benefit?
CB, I was advised by a nutritionist to take the caps Omega 3.6.9 in vegetable source only, the one i got is make from pure flaxseed oil. And added some to your atta does not make the roti stiff.

I add ground flaxseed to my cereals, milkshakes, smoothies, muffins etc. Its health benefits are supposed to be at their best when its taken ground, so make sure you grind them before taking. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge. I usually just store them whole and grind just before using. If you are already taking 1-2 tablespoons a day I think thats enough for you, you dont need to be having loads of it
