Flat Head

..Alrite so now my sons teething problem is gone
he takes his teethers now. :biggthumb
However at the doctors appoinment the other day, the doctor told me not to let him lye flat down on his head becuase his head is going flat from the back. (already is, but not really flat)
The only problem is, hes only 4months old and cant sit yet… even while leaning against things its jus max 5 min and he tips over. tummy time is done as many times as possible i just dont know how i can help his head turn nice and round..
anyone got any suggestions…
i feeeel stressed :frowning:

Re: Flat Head

my mother in law made a small pillow for him.. it was filled with rice and it did wonders for him.
or make a long (length wise) soft pillow for him or even roll a piece of cloth (pref. cotton) and put under his neck .. that should help too.
i think 4mons it bit late.. u should have started it much earlier.

Re: Flat Head

get a small baby-sized "gao takiya", you know, the long, round bolster pillows? it looks like a sausage? all of our heads are perfect round shapes cos mum would lay them on a bolster pillow.

Re: Flat Head

Re: Flat Head

I know that some dr's offer to put the baby in like a cast kinda helmet kinda thing...that is usually done when maybe one side of the head is different then the other. I know some parents may opt to do so to make the head more round

Re: Flat Head

donut pillow :)

Re: Flat Head

is it even possible to have a flat head?

Re: Flat Head

.

Re: Flat Head

baby can lie on either side and change side after half hour or something. Use the sausage pillows as support for the bak and also fron so they dont roll over. I had a lady massage my kids and she used to also massage the head for the shape. Lying on back is laso dangerous cos in case they want to remove milk, it may get stuck. Side sleeping is good.

Re: Flat Head

Ask99: Oh No, I Wouldnt Do That.. His Head Is Not That, Its Actually Going Rounder Since Hes Not Always Lying Down On It Now.
Orpheus: I Guess It Is.. Well Not Exactly Flat Flat, Jus Not Round Ah, dont Know How To Explain it…:smack:
Aly-Sam: Yeh, Side Sleeping Is Working For Him..

Re: Flat Head

He is doing fine sitting wise. The average age babies start sitting is 6 months and even till 7 months is ok.

Re: Flat Head

My daughter is 16 days old. And I'm worried alot about Flat Head Syndrome. She doesn't have a flat head yet, but I'm just very paranoid. Some of the things we did was attached mobile toys on both sides of the toys so that she turns her heads both ways and doesn't keep her head in just one position. We also give her 30 mins of tummy time everyday. I am going to ask her pediatrician if these measures are working.

I'm not too comfortable with desi totkas of placing salad plates under her head. I don't want to try the rice pillow for risk of SIDS.

I've tried alot of after market products for flat head syndrome, they all suck. Most of them are safety hazards. The only two products left for me to try are the Boppy Noggin Nest and the Nightform mattress. For you, I would say the Nightform mattress maybe worth the try.

AQ: JazakAllah brother.

Re: Flat Head

i heard my mommy saying this once..
use a small size saucer..wrap a towel..pillow case around it..and rest your baby's head on top on it..it helps!.
