Flash Drives

I lost my old flash drive and I need to get a new one. I’m gonna buy one off the internet because they’re usually cheaper online and it’s easier to browse. I need a 2GB one but if I can get more space for the same price then I’ll go with it. My budget is like around $15.

I was just wondering if the brand really matters when it comes to flash drives. Like is it possible for a company to actually screw up something so simple as a flash drive? Are there any brands in particular that I should stay away from?

I used to have a Sandisk cruzer micro (it had a cap, not like the new one that has the slide thingy on it). It was perfect. I really don’t want one with the slide thingy on it because I know several people that have complained that it gets stuck or bent.

How’s Kingston?

Or Centon?

Never heard of these companies. =\

Re: Flash Drives

Kingston is usually good, it makes SIMMs DIMMs too .. but again why bother much about brand its only 15 or 20 dollars anyway, so if goes off a new one can be bought anytime.

Re: Flash Drives

I was surprised to see thread title. I came to comment "that must most complicated topic phatima ever started"
But then I saw she lost her flash drive lol

Re: Flash Drives

Kingston is ok.

I would go with SanDisk.
I got a SanDisk 4gb version "titanium" for $50 (was half price) just before december 07. Has not failed on me yet......... even took it to Pakistan lol

Re: Flash Drives

Yea I heard the titanium was good but I’m not paying $50 for a flash drive for God’s sake! My limit is $20 tops.

Najim - okay but I don’t want it to break and then buy another one. :bummer:

KA - oh shush! i’ve written plenty of insightful posts on gupshup. you haven’t even been around long enough to read them. :barbie:

Re: Flash Drives

If this is for school, pay a little more and get a bigger disk. For example this 8 gig one SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Micro U3 USB2.0 Flash Drive - SDCZ6-8192-A11 - Buy.com

But I would wait for the “back to school” sales. I bet you can get a 4 Gig one for $9.99

Re: Flash Drives

4gb is plenty for me.

phats you can always get a free promotional one. those are teh best. min of 2 GB. go with SanDisk if you really wanna pay.

will external hard drives go on sale too in the back to school sales?

Re: Flash Drives

free? promotional? kithoan?

Re: Flash Drives

i have this 8gb flash drive from brand 'ynot' and paid just $16..it was on special... have it for the past 3/4 months.. works like a charm!

Re: Flash Drives

Thay are all the same anyway. Just different packaging. As long as you dont buy a fake it should last years.
