talent, shmalent…let’s run it by the numbers from now on. it don’t matter how artistic, graceful you are. if you want to play in the national team, you have to keep producing.
if your strike rate is under 50% you have to retire after 30 balls
if you’re bowing more than 1 wide or no ball in an over, bowling automatically changes
all bowlers have to be able to bat decently with strike rate of 20% minimum
all batsmen have to be able to bowl good length
if you lose your spot, you have to earn in back through the state/Ranji leagues
Are you talking about tests or ODI’s? If you are talking about ODI’s, then S/R of 20 is way too low, and if you are talking about tests, then no one gives a hoot about S/R in tests.
I don’t know why Indian supporters have pressed the panic button. All teams go through a lean patch. Some longer than the others. With Pathan, Indians have one decent bowler with long term potential. They have decent spinners. Very decent batsmen. Give Chappal some time to gel the team together. Hopefully, some of the old-timers will go away, and can be replaced by more motivated and more enegetic younger players. Thats probably all it will take to build the team under Dravid, or whoever, will be the long term captain.
we should have challengers trophy (Ind a / Ind b / Ind c) monthly rather than annually ...... whatever happens India is going to win ...... so a odd defeat/defeats against good teams (international) will not trouble fans more ....
Besides this there is not much you can do with this team ... and this is the way they always start and end there season, huge defeats and pathetic performances.
Fixing the Indian ODi team???????
Drop them ALL!!!!! Simple:p
They crawled to 226 (thanx to Dhoni) against a team that conceded 397 runs in 44 overs, true there was difference in pitch but they should have scored at least 280 again this opposition.
Only Pathan, Nehra and Dravid deserve an automatic spot in the XI.
Sehwag, Yuvraj, Kaif: EXTREMELY OVERRATED
Ganguly: Out of form or FOUND OUT
Tendulkar: Only good enough to secure some bonus points, not fit enough for ODI's.
Harbhajan: They need an all rounder instead.
Zaheer, Balaji: Way too expensive and inconsistent.
Nehra is a good bowler(only underrated player in their team) and Pathan is proving to be a minnow killer, we will have to wait and see how he performs against good teams. He hadn't recovered from injury when he played against Pakistan and all of a sudden he has regained the fitness when he is up against minnows, still is their best bowler though and a very handy batsman.
i dont know why everyone is looking for a change ,.... indian team is good combination of young and experianced players except for ganguly i dont think that any one needs to be sacked.
My advise to any one who wants to follow indian team,
1. India haters -> watch the matches when season starts/ends pretty joyous moments for you
2. Indian fans -> dont watch the matches untill players are screwed by media.
Over the years this is the same pattern indian think tank (????) follows, they start slowly , they loose very badly , there will media/fans criticism, they will rise and will be like that for most of the season but as the season is near end there will be some exteremly bad performances.
I think euphoria for india haters (anything thats indian) and desperation on the part of some cricket fans is what causing so much discussion on this part.
