The Astronomical New Moon is on Sunday December 9, 2007 at 17:40 Universal Time (i.e., 12:40 pm EST, and 9:40 am PST ). This crescent moon is impossible to be seen anywhere in the world on Sunday, December 9. **On Monday, December 10, 2007, it is sightable in Australia, Part of Africa, and Americas (e.g., in San Diego, CA at sunset, the age is 31 hours, and moon is setting 44 minutes after sunset). **Accordingly, 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (Eidul-Adha) in North America is expected to be on Thursday, December 20, 2007, Insha-Allah.

Based on the bolded part I think a thursday Eid would be correct. But according to reports the moon was not sighted anywhere in the US due to haze and unclear skies. I heard that if the moon cannot be sighted due to bad weather or whatever reason we are supposed to complete 30 days of the month based upon which Eid would be on friday. But masha Allah to Fiqh Council & Islamic Society of North America who have announced Eid on, not Thursday not Friday but WEDNESDAY!

We've more or less been told it's going to be Wednesday here (Preston/Blackburn)

I still think there's going to be some confusion though!

BTW - i'm gujarati/Indian(?) not pakistani if that makes a difference!

Eid in UAE will be on Wednesday, Dec. 19. It's already declared.

Whole of Birmingham? In Tooting London, two mosques within a square mile celeberated on two dates last October.
