Fix Deposite In Marriage

:salam2:

You peoples know that while ‘Sehra-Bandi’, beside ‘dulha (groom)’ a person (Munshi type man) sit and record all incomes (in pnujabi we say Veylaan) who gave how much amount. That amount could be in shape of Cash, Noto Wala Haar, Watch, Gold Ring, Chain etc., etc., all were recorded. It is like a fix deposite. Mean u attend a marriage ceremony and whatever amount u give there will be returned to u once the marriage is going to held in ur home. This is not something new, its going on since generation next generation.

In other words u can say its like a ‘Paiso ki kameeti’ :cb:

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

:emmy: This was beneficial business for those having big families. The families with following ‘Hum do hamare do’ have to bear losses in such transactions.

BTW who started this family planning idea?

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

So you admit that the actual marriage is just business :whistling:

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

If business menas give and take, nothing in this world and even after this world outside this term. Then people do business with Allah and its encouraged in Quran too.

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

But why we write who spent what and how much? Why we bound ourself to spend same thing or amount in retrun to their marriage ceremony? If due to any reason a person unable to spend that much amount, thing or excuse him/herself from attending the ceremony than family fights occured or else. How and when this ‘veylaan’ enriched in our tradition, culture or in our religion? Any idea :faizy:

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

I think this tradition goes back to the times when barter system (commodity for commodity) was followed. Human being in their very nature are only willing to do things to the extent, what others did for them.

Re: Fix Deposite In Marriage

One thing I know in marriage and that is 'Dowry [Haq-mehr]'.
