To practice and bring the principles of the religion one believes, one MUST first know about its own religion in depth and then one can refer to other religions to confirm on his belief.

You are absolutely right. But why only the Hindu religion? I think we should first try to know more about the first two phases of Islam; namely, Christianity and Judaism.

Reading history is fine, no problems.
Once we have a faith in what we now believe to be the devine truth, then, by that token, there can not be another devine message. As long as we have the faith and believe, reading the history will only give us an appreciation of who we were but it will not move anyone to shake their faith. Only those who have a very weak faith will be convinced and that happens all the time.

Queer,Islamnic justice is fast ,swift &just. You want me to order a sri krishan commisiion like for bombay riot ,when whole world knows with proof of report picture videos what happenned except the member of the commission ,who end there report 8 yrs later saying the same things that ppl. knew all along that thackerey & shiv Sena &hindu marathi were the culprit .But conveniently the report is realeased AFTER THE STAUATORY PERIOD OF PROSECUTION IS ELAPSED.Therefore thackeray is charged but cant be tried.
So ,i 'm not going to wait for a trial to determine whether the poster of this thread is muslim or not.

Reading of these books is just to improve your knowledge. There is nothing wrong in reading various thaught. Blind faith or blind following of any faith is leeds to wards ignorance and distruction
The Gita is only 743 verses, and should only take 40-50 pages in a straight English translation, making it readable in about 2-3 hours. The version listed here probably has the sanskrit, an English transliteration, and then the English translation, as well as commentary on each verse.
The whole Mahabharata covers 11 volumes, and can only be summarized in the 304 pages mentioned here. In 304 pages, you get a summary of the story, but all the details about dharma and spirituality will be cut out.
The quickest way to become familiar with another religion is to read the Tao Te Ching - should only take 30 minutes, and reveal a completely different mode of spiritual thought.
Probably more interesting though, for Muslims, is to read Baha'i literature.
