I have a question. May seem like a strange one and I doubt it’s been asked before.
I see the models for stores like Khaadi, Chinyere etc…wearing lawn kurtay loose and not fitted. That’s how I prefer my kurtay…looser. Especially those that I wear at home cuz I feel easier moving around in them and esp for namaz. However, I went to Pakistan recently and my cousins wear more fitted clothes even at home.
Some of the readymade kurtas that I got in a size small are still pretty dheelay…but I like it like that. So…am I the only weirdo here…or am I doing something wrong…or is it just simply a matter of preference?
I'm petite in terms of height. I think my body is average, but my cousins in Pak think I'm "kamzor"...but they prefer a more filled-out look if that makes sense.
One of my cousins made a strange random remark. She said, "Are you moti or patli? I can't tell cuz you're clothes are loose, kuch samajh main nahi aa raha." Needless to say I was annoyed, but didn't show it. Though it was a size small, it was still loose...but not overly so. I received compliments from others.
Same! My cousins that are from Pak wear fitted clothes whereas i prefer the more loose style. I think they think fitted = more put together? Whereas they might feel if they dress in the loose-er style it would look less so. Either way i find the loose-fit look much more elegant.

Agreed. I don't like to define my body shape and I also find it more comfortable. I think I'm far from being big but I think clothes should be a bit looser in case you gain a few pounds...so there's some leeway. And I feel the same way about formal wear too...don't like it too fitted. My mom and sister also prefer fitted...so I kinda feel like an odd ball.
Personally, I like fitted more because everything gets caught for me... (door knobs/chairs etc... D:) I wear XS to S depending on the designer, but still looks really loose imo.
I get a lot of compliments though. My inlaws prefer loose...? i think
It depends on my mood really, for home and causal wear I prefer loose, it's easier to move around in and much easier to work. For an odd special occasion I don't mind fitted, but not much. Just enough so that it somewhat defines my shape. Not enough to give all away. If you understand what I mean,
in kurtas i like loose..im petite and i dont really have a choice but still i dont get my kurtas fitted. I wear them loose with skin tight leggins.
I also always beleived kurta looks better loose.
But it depends on the size too, i wear XS because i am petite ..my sister who is tall and wider but still vey slim wear S and the kurta will be a perfect fit on her...if she get an M then the shoulders are looking odd.
I've worn loose stuff for years. I think there are a small amount of styles in asian outfits which look good fitted on the right people but personally slightly looser is always elegant to me, has that less trying-hard aspect to it.
Having said that, fitted can look nice if its not too fitted, if it's tailored well to the body and not skin-tight enough to squeeze your ribs
i wear looser stuff so that my body shape isnt highlighted. i can fit a khaadi size 8, but thats too fitting. khaadi size 10 is perfect although one size 10 khameez was tight frm chest. size 12 is the ideal looseness, but it makes me look FAT.
