Normally when we are at the mosque, we give it to the masjid organizers before the namaz. Since my parents are going to pak, couple days after Eid, is it ok that they just take that fitrana out before namaz and instead of giving to the masjid ppl, just take it to Pakistan and give the money to some poor people by themselves. Like over here in US, the masjid officials don’t give that money right away to poor people before namaz… So I am just thinking that it should be okay. Other thoughts?
Re: Fitrana Question
The whole purpose of fitrana is to make sure those who can not celebrate eid and do not have new clothes to wear on eid, get that opportunity.
Although, it is necessary to pay the Sadaqat-ul-Fitr before Salaht-ul-Eid (even on behalf of child who was born at the time of Faj'r on the day of Eid - provided the family or the head of family is Saahib-e-Nisaab), but it is very much recommended to pay it in enough advance time that it reaches the deserving, before Eid.
Re: Fitrana Question
peace AQ bro
I'm fairly sure that fitrana is given on each unborn child too. But to answer the question from Lusi it is correct fitrana should be given before Eid. So perhaps if fitrana is sent to Pakistan to family members and they give it to poor that might be an option.
Re: Fitrana Question
Fitrana can be given out any time before eid paryer, which also includes whole month of ramadhan
Lusi, your dad can drop the money in fitrana box of local mosque tonight. No need to wait till eid morning ..
Re: Fitrana Question
why do you give it to masjid people ? ![]()
you are supposed to give it to poor people ![]()
Re: Fitrana Question
In USA, Masjids distribute it to poor and needy cause sometimes it becomes hard to find eligible family ..
they have a seperate box for fitrana so funds dont get mixed up with other donations
Re: Fitrana Question
^^ Yeah it hard to find poor people therefore masjids have a seperate box for fitrana. I am now just curious how quickly masjids distribute the fitrana money among poor but I guess that will be a question for the masjid organizers.
Anyway, thanks a lot of all the input. ![]()
