We are having a snowstorm today, it started this morn. And even tho I knew the grocery store was going to be nuts due to the storm, I always go mid-morning on saturdays … so I went. It was a nuthouse, I think the entire town was there.
I was passing by the checkout area which was heavily crowded and this guy, in his 60s, right in front of me, started cursing his head off and gave a REALLY hard kick to the shins of another man who was in his 50s. Then he got in the younger mans face screaming at him (I wont repeat what he was screaming) and then he punched the younger man right in the jaw!!
People (including me) were just drop-jawed in shock. How very heartbreaking to see a grown man act like an out of control teenager. And to see a person inflict physical harm upon a fellow human just made me want to puke.
Yikes, wow!!!!!!!! The day before yesterday, I was at the grocery store pushing my cart along when all of a sudden I heard a loud thud behind me and then I heard an Asian woman saying, "Do you need help?"
I turn around and see this elderly man on the floor, his body quivering, and his arm was stuck out in the air and shaking. The lady cried, "Somebody call 911!"
The security guard came and tried to assess the situation. Shoppers and workers gathered around to watch. The paramedics were called.
After a while blood started pooling behind the man's head. His shirt was stripped off him and defibrillators were attached to him. I heard the man fall, so it was hard to walk away. I kept looking for a rise and fall of his chest, an indication that he was breathing. CPR was done and thankfully he was breathing. He was whisked away by the paramedics and his wife, who arrived much later, was given directions to the hospital.
I found out from one of the workers that he's going to b okay, that it was only a seizure, and he had hit himself hard on the head, hence the pool of blood.
You see incidents like this on TV, but gosh when it happens RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, it is soooooooo FRICKIN WEIRD and SCARY!!!!!!!!
That jerk whom you encountered at the grocery store should have been kicked out and arrested for assault!!!!!! What a PSYCHO, somebody could have gotten seriously hurt.
You ppl should have made videos.....Fist fight video would be hilarious to see.
next time dont forget it cuz you'll hv to see it again esp under these circumstances..
Remember, in LongIsland, during christmas a worker at WALMART got killed when the door was opened and waiting folks run into the store blindly.
A similar accident happened earlier when a pregnant woman became the victim. She was safe in the end but the baby got aborted. Its sad, I know.
Straight up...have you ever been in a situation like this? I mean, completely, totally unexpected - we live in an area where this kind of thing DOES NOT happen!! So when it DID...I was so in shock that my jaw dropped and I stood there...yeah like an idiot. Then I got outta there because the older guy was so very enraged and out of control that I could see him shooting, knifing or beating even a woman if someone stepped in to try to help. Very sad to be sure....but its also where you are and what you expect from your surroundings yeah? I mean if I had gone shopping in harlem I'd kinda expect that sorta thing. But in a ritzy westchester neighborhood, its just not something that happens yeah? so hence the slack-jawed idiot stare.

I just get really irritated with people who think "seeing drama like this is actually entertaining". Like someone said, oh you should have videotaped it. That just makes me angry how people are thirsty for this kind of action!
...now that I'm thinking about this incident, I'm recalling an awful night years ago that I took a Long Island Railroad train home as usual. My stops were to the better "north shore" areas and passengers for the most part were professionals working in NYC and living nice lives in the burbs. There was all of a sudden much commotion and sounds like fireworks. A psycho was on the train with an automatic handgun and a coat full of ammo. I think 7 people died that night. Because when the guy started shooting, people were so very shocked that they couldnt move. He walked calmly down the aisle of the train shooting anyone he wanted. It took quite some time until people got together enough to tackle him.
When you live in peace, you expect it to continue yeah? And when it does not, you just dont clearly register it.
no worries SU! You're right. There were so very many people around and we all just kind of stood there slack-jawed like yup...idiots. It was just too shocking I guess. But no one was entertained by it all...except maybe the jerk who was beating up the other guy.
I was visiting NY about 2 weeks ago....and I took the subway for commute...it was around 3 pm-ish...i got off a train somewhere in Manhattan and as I was about to climb the stairs to go out to the street everyone starts to kinda move back...
there were two men fighting...one had the other by his neck...he dragged him down the stairs and was hitting him so bad...he pinned him against those massive metal pillars and punching on his head....it was terrible...then he moved him to the tracks and held him against a train ,constantly hitting him...dont know what happened after that as I left....:(
It was the first time I had seen someone doing sth like this in person....I wasn't able to get the images out of my head for days....where I live I will never expect any thing of the sorts....
NY is scary....!!!!!!!!!
So sad..cu know i been taking subway fr 5 years now, never had to face anything like this..we get psychso and weirdos on the train , usually teh beggars, but we ignore them. But this is one of those things u just cannot control. still sad…
