Re: Fishing!
where do you live, teggy? usually its not so hard to find places to fish almost anywhere in the US. depending on where you are, you may be able to fish for anything from tiny 5 inch brook trout in streams to huge sailfish and permit in salt water. but invariably there’s a pond or lake near you that has bluegill and other panfish, possibly small and largemouth bass. many cities stock their ponds in months other than summer with trout and bass, they are fun to catch.
you can fish with a simple spin rod and earthworms or hoppers as bait, or if you want a more active, enjoy natural surroundings and technical way to fish - i highly recommend fly fishing. only catch is it gets obsessive real fast. it is very addictively technical, challenging and a thoroughly enjoyable sport.
personally i’ve fished for trout and panfish, used to be in stocked ponds with a regular spin rod, but earlier this year gave fly fishing in rivers with wild trout a try and i’m never going back. i release 90% of what i catch, only take a fish if i really feel like it.
check this out.
I’m in Chicago. Chicago Park District has listed some parks that are supposed to have a few fish variety. But like the description you wrote, and the videos you posted would be more ideal. I’ll find out more about places like that here.
Thanks for the videos. What do you like about fly fishing that got you hooked? no pun
