Re: Fish recipes

I just made this last week and it turned out good.

Thaw a few pieces of frozen fish fillets
marrinate with lahori fish masala mixed with some oil
leave that over night or a few hours
preheat the oven and bake the fish till its cooked, follow the timing according to the type of fish. The kind I had (can't remember the name) only took about 20 mins.

In a pan make masala by frying onions, adding tomatoes, ginger, garlic etc.
For spices again I used lahori fish masala but I wish I had grinded that. Cook the ingredients till oil seperates. After it's done take out in a dish
and add the baked fillets on top.

Serve with rice or bread.

Re: Fish recipes

i just get fresh tilapia or salmon...marinate it with garlic, butter, cumin, salt and pepper...
bake it and serve with veggies and toasted seven grain bread...its easy..and healthy.. :)

Re: Fish recipes

I usually buy frozen fish nuggets from target and bake it :)

but i guess its only for the lazy cooks like me :D

Re: Fish recipes

1 salmon fish - sliced and de-boned
lemon garlic marinate - 1 cup
coriander leaves chopped - 1/4 cup
olive oil to fry or smoke in an oven in foil
french bread or boiled rice - for 4-6 servings

clean the fish with water when you bring the fish. marinate and keep in fridge for an hour.
take out and let it sit until its temperature comes down to room temperature.
if want it smoked/steamed, brush some oil over and wrap in foil to bake for an hour on 275 degrees F.
when done, take out. it should smell cooked. and if you tasted it, the marinate would have been fully absorbed it the meat of fish.

if frying. pour little oil and fry one piece at a time. if you want, you can use bread crumbs as a batter as well for extra crispy fish.
fry until golden brown.
take out in a flat dish and garnish with chopped coriander.
use ketchup for flavor.

bread or rice, either will be tasty with this fish.

best,
Dushwari

Re: Fish recipes

i have recipes for fish curries in coconut sauce and all, indian style, not sure if u wanna try those. but here's an easy recipe for baked/grilled fish. take salmon or tilapia filets and marinate them in chipotle sauce for 30 mins (i think i used Lawry's brand). then wrap in foil and bake in the oven for abt 20-25 mins. prep time is barely 5 minutes!

Riya, try to buy wild caught fish (it will say so on the packet) as they have the nutrients you need.

i tried this a few days ago…it was really good…and easy too…
i just marinated the fish in this sauce for a few hrs and then cooked it in a pan(instead of baking it)…
served it with vegetable rice…

Re: Fish recipes

^^ lol because of your name, I kept reading the title as fish & chips on the main forum index...lol

Re: Fish recipes

For those looking to eat fried fish, there's this fish seasoning you can get in any store or even use Shaan's. Just mix that, vinegar, garlic powder, red pepper and lemon with fish and it tastes sooo good!!!

Re: Fish recipes

Re: Fish recipes

Dushwari’s recipe is perfect, just change two items as indicated

Salmon is the best fish for Omega 3’s, I found adding Tarragon completey gets rid of the fishy odor and Coconut Oil works wonders…:daaghu1:

Re: Fish recipes

got it, han, great.
i am glad, you tested it and it worked.
my recipe is a substituted one, too.
instead of tapalia. salmon and lemon ginger marinate instead of herbed crumbs.
i will substitute this and try coconut oil and taraagon leafs, never tried those ever.
great. thanks.

Re: Fish recipes
