Re: Fish Recipes

shaan masala baby!

Re: Fish Recipes

whether i'm using chicken or fish, i like to make up my own marinade of ginger paste, garlic paste, lots of lemon, soya sauce, salt, and finely chopped onions, as well as chili sauce (the kind you use for chicken corn soup?). just mix it up, throw it all in a big ziplock bag, throw in the chicken/fish, squish the bag a little bit so the meat is all coated and leave in the fridge for an hour or so. then you just stir fry it or bake it, with a little oil and it comes out yummy!

when i do this with chicken, i serve it with tortilla wraps (flat thin pita bread), sour cream, guacamole, salsa and shredded cheese for a mexican meal. with fish, i just serve it with a nice salad. its super easy and super delish!

Re: Fish Recipes

salmon curry
(serves 6)
**
spice mix
6 dried chillies
1 tbls cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp garam masala
½ tsp haldi

3 tbls oil
1 onion, finely sliced
1 tomato, chopped
2 onions, finely chopped
8 garlic cloves, chopped
6 green chillies, chopped
5 cm (2 in) piece of ginger, grated
½ cup (100 ml.) imlii purée
3 tbls coconut milk powd7 cream
1 kg salmon cutlets

prepare the spice miz by grinding the chillies, cumin, coriander and mustard seeds to a fine powder using a spice grinder or mortar, then mix with the garam masala and haldi

heat the oil over low heat in a heavy-based pan large enough to hold the
pieces of fish in a single layer. ad the sliced onion and fry until golden.
ad the tomato, chopped onion garlic, green chillies and ginger and fry,
stirring occasionally, for 20 min. or until the oil separates from the masala.

add the spice mix and the imlii purée to the pan, then bring to the boil. add the coconut milk powd/cream and stir until well mixed . season with
salt to taste. add the fish and bring slowly to the boil. the masala is not very liquid but it need to be made very hot in order to cook the fish. simmer for 5 min. then turn the pieces of fish over and simmer another 5 min., or until the fish is cooked through and the masala is thick

serve hot with white chawals or rotii, havent tried it my self yet but i will soon :clown:

Re: Fish Recipes

my quickest fish recipe - get the Lawry's or Mrs Dash baja chipotle marinade, pour it over the fish filets and let it sit for atleast 30 mins. Then stick it in the oven, or you can even microwave it for 8-10 mins, and it's ready.

this is how i make fish salan:
**Ingredients:
**fish filets
fresh coconut (or frozen)
whole coriander seeds
turmeric, chili powder, garlic cloves - 1 for each filet
kokum (amsul) pieces - or a little tamarind

Directions:
grind together: dhaniya seeds, garlic, coconut
heat oil, fry this masala, add turmeric, chili powder
add fish filet and fry for 5 mins
add some water and make gravy. add kokum pieces (or a little tamarind for khataaie)
simmer until the fish is done.

the reason i love these fish recipes is coz they won't stink up ur house!!
