Please share some yummy fish recipes, especially grilled/sauteed.
Here is one I made yesterday with Tilapia Filet.
2 tilapia filet (no skin)
salt/pepper/coriander/chat masala to taste and some flour for light coating
Pat the filet dry with a tissue. Sprinkle each side with chat masala, a little salt, red pepper, some coriander(thania) powder. Then sprinkle with a little flour on each side. Add a little oil/butter to non-stick skillet. Heat on high and then add the filet, let it sizzle a bit & turn brown (Tilapia cooks fast). Then flip and let it cook some more. Cover for a few minutes if you need to, as you got the yummy crispy edge. Seve hot with a side of veggies. Yummmmmmyyyyy!!!
Re: Fish Recipes Please
This is how my MIL makes it..and it's quite yummy ..it's similar to yours..she uses 'Raho' fish..dunno the english name for it..
First squeeze/mash a couple of garlic cloves and rub it on the fish alongwith 1-2 Tbsp of gram flour (besan) ..then just wash it..
For marination: Couple of garlic cloves, salt, pepper(black and red both), coarsely ground corriander and cumin , Ajwain, 1 tbsp besan, oil 1-2 tbsps, lemon juice
mix the above and marinate fish with it..let sit for atleast 30 mins..then fry or grill as you like..I've tried both and I like the grilled version better

I have to try this one. Does it come out like it has a besan coating or no? I tried Shan Lahori Fish masala and was surprised it had some besan coating, didnt like it too much.
Re: Fish Recipes Please
No it's not besany at all.. I don't like the besan dipped version either as the coating gets all flavor and fish remains bland. Besan here kind of acts like a marinating thing, just adds a bit of crispiness and little flavour..
1tbsp of besan is for around 500-700 g of fish, you can adjust it according to your liking.
Re: Fish Recipes Please
Tilapia Parmesan - made it , it was AWESOME
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese - grated
2 tbsp low fat mayonnaise
2 tbsp greek yogurt (or sour cream - I used greek yogurt)
2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
zest of lime/juice of lime
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp tarragon
1/8 tsp onion powder
sea salt
ground black pepper
4 tilapia fillets
combine cheese, with everything else (except fish). Coat fish with mixture --> marinate for 20 min --> then bake for like 10-20 minutes --> then set on "broil" and let the fish sit there for like 5 minutes.
Be careful when broiling, because the oven can combust and you can have a fire, because the sauce WILL blacken and burn.
Re: Fish Recipes Please
I think if you did the above with chicken, it would come out awesome too - I didn't try it with chicken yet.
And then for a side, I made some whole wheat pasta and stirred in ready-made alfredo sauce from the market into it.
It was AN AMAZING DINNER
Re: Fish Recipes Please
here's how i make tilapia with asparagus:
sprinkle olive oil in the bottom of your baking dish.
place the fillets in them, side by side.
sprinkle cajun seasoning all over, drizzle some more olive oil, squeeze in juice of a lemon or half, depending on how lemony you like your fish and how many fillets you have.
then flip the fillets, repeat on the other side with the cajun seasoning and the lemon.
line up some cut-up asparagus to one side of the baking dish and also drizzle with olive oil.
and then tuck in whole cloves of garlic-in-oil (you can get this in the antipasto section of your supermarket) between the fillets.
bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the fish is white and the meat flakes off easily with a fork.
done and done! and deeelicious!
as a side, i slice up some zucchini and tomatoes and sauté them in olive oil with a touch more cajun seasoning until they're nice and cooked, esp. the zucchini. the tomatoes kind of melt in the heat and get all soft and amazing.
you could also serve this with plain rice or zeera rice on the side.
