Fish ponds

My auntie had a fish pond in the back garden. I was very impressed at the time, though it’s been a while since i’ve seen it so i’ve no idea if it’s still thriving. the fish pond was already there when they bought the house. does anybody here have a fish pond, and what kind of fish do you keep?

Xtreme,

That was almost a nice little story starting with your auntie and her fish pond. Unfortunately it didn't go anywhere except for the part where you were impressed by something: That was just halirious.

But your affection for the fish is duly noted.

Roman,

this is the culture forum, so the point is to introduce something of culture value, i.e, fish ponds. the fact that it didn’t really go anywhere is because that’s really all i know about the subject. hopefully someone else will come along and expand on the idea, and presto, Madhanee will have a stimulating and thoughtful subject for his forum

Only rich people in Pakistan have fish ponds in their backyard (backyards itself, only for rich people). Some not so rich people might possess a fish tank.

Xtreme, I have a fishtank with tropical fish. I bought it for my kids but ended up taking care (cleaning, changing water, etc.) of it myself. Never ever buy any pets for your kids thinking that they will do the chores involved.

Roman, Xtreme may lack words, but even in scantity, he stays stated. Don’t laugh at him (at least not too much).

I have a blue colored pet beta fish named peace!

He has a big ole tank for himself but I am thinking of putting in a gold fish with him, just so he has company.

A pond outside is actually much less hassle. As you don’t have to clean the water too much or too often. A friend of mine have a outside pond and he claim he has never taken care of it like I have to do of my aquarium. I am trying to convince my Dad let me make one under a tree in our back yard.

I'm talking about England NYA, some houses here have big gardens at the back and a few might have ornamental fish ponds. A fish tank is ok, but really doesn't have the same impact as a pond where you can watch the little fishies skittling about between rocks and water plants. You can chuck a couple of frogs in as well to make it more interesting.

What about these tropical fish then? are they expensive? what do they eat? you should share some details man, this will make nice change from biryani recipes and Taj Mahal.

woww...AJ, that's one corker of a fish!

ahmadjee jee, that is one cool fish!

I've always thought it'd be really cool to have a fishpond in the backyard with old and wizened trees surrounding it, their branches bending down to carress the water. Hmmmm.

Well, how does one go about making a pond? Frogs jumping from one lily pad to another would be kinda cool too. But damn, gotta get rid of those fairy rings that pop up in our yard come summertime.

why Sarah, you make it sound almost like a Hans Christian Anderson story. Can a fish pond have such magical properties?

Do you think Handsel and Gretel had a fish pond?

whenever i read NYA and Xtreme's post.. all I can think of is .. oooh so artsy fartsy...... respectively

whenever i read yours i always think what a wa**er. honestly, no offence intended.

i don't mean wa**er in a bad way. more like in the literal sense. sort of typing with one hand if you know what i mean.

I had fish - black moors - i figured they were the closest thing to Muslim fish you could get.

They grew up fine, got all nice and fat. They were happy.

One day I threw in these other fish - swords. Bad mix...these swords started to attack the moors. It was like the spanish inquisition. The Moors died.

Now whenever I look at swords I think - Ariel Sharon/Zionist.

Achtung

Man Achtung, you could have left Ariel Sharon out of this one at least.

yOu leave Actung Baby alone. He can fantasize about Ariel "Sugar" Sharon, as much as he wants to. You just stick to wa**ers and fish.

Aj isnt that the fighter fish, Ivr heard that its good if its kept alone. It kills the one of its own kind.

LOL

Xtreme yar, no worries, I understand. I know it's the red herring that's been bothering you but wait till Madhanee shows up with her croaker.

PS. Achtung, I'm touched. So did you end up eating the sword?

When I invest in a fish, all I think and pray is that it grows out to be a beautiful mermaid. After reading Achtung’s story, I am never going to look at fish in the same light again. Just imagine if I took her out of the tank and she turns out be a muslim mermaid? Yuck!
