Cut the 3-4 fillets into 2 pieces each. Wash the fillets and sprinkle some salt and haldi on it. Set aside for half hour. Tilapia is a mild fish, no smell and the fillets are easy.
Then wash annd pat dry with paper towels. Warm some oil and fry the fillets until golden on each side. Remove and put on paper towel.
In the same oil, fry some onions and methi seeds, when golden, add ginger garlic paste, fry a little more, add tomatoes, salt, haldi and lal mirch. Uppar se, dhaniya and hari mirch dal do and serve with rice or roti!
^ I was just about to post a very similar recipe! But now i dont need to. however, for a bit of variation, if u have some chunky fish fillet pieces like cod, u can coat them in a marinade of lemon juice, methi seeds, haldi, red chilli powder, garam masala, ginger garlic paste and a little gram flour, then fry the fish and remove from pan.
Or try cat fish filets, its very meaty & holds up well. If you like salmon you can go for that, but i personally feel salmon is ruined with curry type masala.
In a similar fashion, just make masala as you would for a normal salan. Rub fish with mustard oil. Shallow fry the cat-fish pieces until golden brown. Add them to the masala and then add some water. Simmer over low heat for about 15-20 minutes.
