Re: Fish Masala Curry

Lol yeah you can make that way too...

All you do is make masala, add little water to make it then . Then add your fish. 3-5 mins on each side. At the end sprinkle some lemon chaat masala, leave it on dum for 1-2 mins. garnish with cilantro and enjoy with rice or roti.

Re: Fish Masala Curry

You can also marinate the fish before putting it in the masala but if you do so make sure the marinate and the masala are not salty.

Re: Fish Masala Curry

You can make a simple fish curry with Tilapia fillets.

Cut the 3-4 fillets into 2 pieces each. Wash the fillets and sprinkle some salt and haldi on it. Set aside for half hour. Tilapia is a mild fish, no smell and the fillets are easy.

Then wash annd pat dry with paper towels. Warm some oil and fry the fillets until golden on each side. Remove and put on paper towel.

In the same oil, fry some onions and methi seeds, when golden, add ginger garlic paste, fry a little more, add tomatoes, salt, haldi and lal mirch. When oil separates, add some kasuri methi and the fish. Cover and cook until fish is tender. If you want more curry, you can add a cup of water before adding the fish. Uppar se, dhaniya and hari mirch dal do and serve with rice or roti!

Re: Fish Masala Curry

^ I was just about to post a very similar recipe! But now i dont need to. however, for a bit of variation, if u have some chunky fish fillet pieces like cod, u can coat them in a marinade of lemon juice, methi seeds, haldi, red chilli powder, garam masala, ginger garlic paste and a little gram flour, then fry the fish and remove from pan.

Continue as in Niksiks recipe.

Re: Fish Masala Curry

Yes, RH, the fish steaks always work better in curries as they are more stiff and don't disintegrate. Good marinate. Will try.

Now thats a whole lot better ! Thank you all

What about the Fish? I mean the bones (kantay) how can we tackle them while eating or is there any other type with less bones ?

acha khasa khanay ka maza laitay laitay jaan kay lalaay per jatay hain :(:k:

Re: Fish Masala Curry

I use tilapia fillets... no bones, no smell, it has a very buttery flavor. The only thing is never over cook the fish or it will be all dry.

Got it ! This weekend when I get back from work I shall cook both Shrimp and fish, cant wait to try these recipes,Slurrrrp :p:k:

Re: Fish Masala Curry

Or try cat fish filets, its very meaty & holds up well. If you like salmon you can go for that, but i personally feel salmon is ruined with curry type masala.
In a similar fashion, just make masala as you would for a normal salan. Rub fish with mustard oil. Shallow fry the cat-fish pieces until golden brown. Add them to the masala and then add some water. Simmer over low heat for about 15-20 minutes.

:biggthumb yum yum thank you all !
