Re: fish curry
I like fried, smoked, steamed fish only.
Fish curry maybe goes better with rice or something. Oh sorry no recipes ![]()
Re: fish curry
I agree, fish curry goes best with rice. Here's a recipe.
Wash and pat dry the fish, apply lal mirch, haldi and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
Grind together 2 onions, 2 sp ginger-garlic paste, black pepper, zeera-dhania, pinch of garm masala, hari mirch (or lal mirch) and 2 tbsp almond or cashew paste (you just soak a handful of blanched almonds or cashews for 20 mins in warm water).
Fry the fish gently, then remove and drain on paper towel. In the same oil, fry your ground masala til its brown. Now add a cup of whipped yoghurt, keep stirring until the oil leaves the sides of the pan. Then add some hot water and bring to a boil. Add the fish and salt to taste. Cover and cook for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped dhania and lemon juice.
This is the recipe I used, except instead of yoghurt + water I used a tin of coconut milk. It was good, I ate it with rice.
Re: fish curry
thanks namkeen! hey can i broil the fish instead of frying it???
Re: fish curry
I don't see why not. Good idea, you can probably reduce the oil quantity if you broil the fish instead of frying it. And your place won't smell like fried fish
Re: fish curry
You can also try red snapper which has a great taste for fish curry and does not have too many small bones.
Re: fish curry
King fish is best when fried with shaan lahori fish masala… ![]()
