First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

**Head of the British Army, General Sir Mike Jackson, has said he “condemns utterly” abuse, as three soldiers face charges of mistreating Iraqi civilians.
Nine charges against the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers soldiers include forcing prisoners to simulate sex acts at a Basra aid camp in May 2003. **

The court martial, which is expected to last three to four weeks, comes just days after a US soldier was sentenced to 10 years in jail after he was found guilty of abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib jail, near Baghdad.

Evidence of the alleged abuse came to light when a set of photographs were left for processing at a shop in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

A developer called police because she was “disturbed by the content”.

“It cannot be said that these photographs are of incidents that are anything other than shocking and appalling,” Lt Col Clapham told the court.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

It's a shame you were unable to watch the Channel 4 news at 7pm today. The BBC isnt the be all and end all of all News you know.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

Great. Now we have a couple of Brits talking in riddles. Alright, for the sake of rest of the world, whats the deal with Channel 4 news and BBC and its relevance to this news story?

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

Personally I would take BBC over any other news media in the world. Channel 4 doesn't come close.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

personal opinion, i prefer Channel 4 over BBC, i have issues with the BBC news…it’s related to this story by means of how the story is presented. Media propaganda and all…

anyway, im off to watch “The power of Nightmares” which by the way, is on BBC 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

AK you must have slipped my eye. Which prison were you in gitmo or abu-g? Why you angry at U.S effendi? We don't mean any harm we love you. In the long run Iraq will be a better place without Saddam. Don't be so mad. BTW where did we capture you in Iraq or Afghanistan? ..................Oh time to go.
P.S Name is Graner not Garner.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

Actually I agree with Missy_M. Channel 4 (tucked away after the other 3 terrestrial channels) always seem to have a better take on a lot of news stories. I didnt watch it myself but they are less sensational are seem a bit more balanced than sky and bbc.

The power of Nightmares was pretty good dont you think Missy? For once we finally had someone who exposed the reality of how the West create issues as a pretext to invade other lands. Of course it was broadcast at 11.20pm when everyone was asleep (and it had to contend with Big Brother so no one would have seen it)

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

graner take a running jump iraqis dont need no terrorist amerikkkan pigs coming to thier country and telling them how to live.

I would not come to your country telling you how to live i am sure the amerikkkans would be up in arms fighting for thier lives from the hoods of New york to the farms of texas so why do you expect any different reaction from other countires when they invaded!

capture hmmmm if you want to discuss topic then fine if you want to talk about fairlyland then here is a link for the joke forum http://www.gupistan.com/gs/forumdisplay.php?f=263

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

It was on so late as it was a repeat. It was good, but i can’t wait to watch tonights episode…all that power and corruption is what helps me sleep at night.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

None of you Brits have so far told us what is the relevance of your bickering about Channel 4 vs BBC… as far as the newstory of British torturing Iraqis is concerned.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

well channel 4 usually has better coverage overall , the presenters are more grilling and less tilting in their interviews, however i didnt watch it last night so i dont know the relevance it has to the torturing, so erm yeah wait till miz M gets here.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

OK If I am an Amrikkkan pig, Which country produced you, so we can limit the importing of bad meat by invoking mad pig disease.
Are you the new spokesman for Iraq? If so what the falluja happened to the funny iraqi that made us laugh while we were kicking iraqi a$$?

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

If you are an amerikkkan pig then oink oink the pigs are the occupying forces not a general comment on average joe in amerikkkaa.

Since it is clear you are here with ridiculous comments like amerikka is kicking iraqis ass really intresting since you have many coffins wrapped in stars and stripes leaving by the plane load back to amerikka everyday and also you trying to provoke silly comments then i let you carry on with your agenda.

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

I love you to darling. Don’t change a thing. :french: Wait for me I’ll be out in no time and will personally make you squeal like a pig with excitement.
So homogenius you want me to be seruious. Are you out of your falluja mind. Serious to a little boy that hasn’t reached maturity yet and has stains on his keyboard looking at my masterpieces. Tell you what “airgun” why dont you learn to present yourself in civil manner and I will respond in kind. :french:

Re: First the US abuse and Torture now we have the Britis abusing Iraqis!

The allegations that British troops have been torturing Iraqi prisoners have not yet had the impact in the Arab world that the Abu Ghraib scandal did.
But the story is being reported in newspapers and the satellite television networks, even as the Arab world prepares for the major annual holiday, Eid al-Adha.

“Understandably it’s been covered quite extensively and the commentary is a mixture of indignation and anger,” said Jihad Ballout, spokesman for al-Jazeera.

“Commentaries talk about the parallels between what is going on with the British soldiers and the Abu Ghraib issue… and there has been a sense that: well, why should we be surprised.”
**
In Egypt, the mainstream broadsheet al-Ahram entitled one photograph “the Brutality of Occupation”.

Another Egyptian newspaper, al-Akhbar, said it was evidence of “the latest crimes by British forces in Iraq”. **

**The pan-Arab Asharq al-Awsat said it would not be showing the photographs - perhaps meaning in particular those alleged to show Iraqis being forced to simulate sexual acts - because they were simply too offensive.

In Jeddah, the editor of the Saudi paper Arab News told BBC Middle East correspondent Paul Wood that he didn’t want to risk publishing the pictures now, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage, for fear of inflaming passions among more than two million people gathered together in Mecca. **

But it is the reaction on the Arab street and in Iraq itself that matters most.

Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor of the London-based newspaper al-Quds says UK forces have done well to present a more human and understanding face than American forces in the area they occupy in southern Iraq.

“These pictures will shatter this image, and will inflict damage to the British standing in the Middle East, two weeks away from the [Iraq] elections,” he told BBC News.

Our correspondent says that British forces must hope now there is not a similar reaction among the Shia population in southern Iraq, where they carry out their patrols.

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has said the pictures are “shocking and appalling”, but that they are not representative of the British armed forces as a whole.

Intresting some countries too scared to publish these shocking images in fear of public reaction while in others people are not surprised, either way the damage of these and others including abu gharib have done the damage in the muslim world and if one thing does’nt change when you get a bad name in muslim countires people never forget, the occupying forces have’nt got a hope of buliding any relation now and will not be trusted even by the so called moderates
