First ever ‘all’ Silver stamp in the world.. This was issued just recently in The Netherlands.

As you can see in the above scanned pic of the stamp. The value of the stamp is 12,75 Guilders. (which is equal to US$ 5,27)
That is the same ammount what you pay when sending a registered mail.

For the first time in the history a silver postage stamp is issued. More over, it is the last stamp in Holland with the value in Guilders. On the silver stamp, there is an image of an old coin 1 Guilder, and the current new 1 Guilder coin.
This extraordinary silver stamp was forged, same way as it is done with coins!!! The stamp is made by the Koninkelijk Nederlands Munt (Royal Dutch Coinage [sp?]), which also made the first stamp in 1852. A new technology called ‘Minted Stamp Image’ is used to make this silver stamp. This lastest technology makes it possible for this silver stamo to be just as thin as a normal postage stamp!!!
