Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

They definitely migrated but are now part of Pashtun society and should be considered Pashtuns.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

So the two Punjabs coming closer haan, good affection for the bearded brothers...

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

You should marry a Sikh as well!

WHat’s the difference between bearded fellows right?

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

please read "bearded brothers"....brothers in blood, language, and culture...the only difference is religion but again Sikhism is half Islam...beard is scared to both religions...so there are reasons for the fraternal feelings....i insist this is brotherly affection shown to the Sikh enlistee...don't you agree?

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Sikh people no good changey. Let Pakistan be a safe haven for minorities and give them the freedom to practice their religion at home and in their temples but you can't trust everyone in positions of authority.

I know if I was a Sikh or Sikh I would love my land regardless but I wouldn't be loyal to the state which is suppose to be the "Islamic Republic..." or the "Citadel of Islam" or was created just because the creators couldn't live with my people and my coreligionists. I'd be more happier if it was unification and my own coreligionists had the upper hand in the goverment.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

LOl… I still think the typo was better.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Now there are talks of raising a sikh battalion?

How many people are there in a battalion? A thousand???

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Gimme a break ...what a show! no institution in Pakistan can survive if they really pratice minority rights. One in the court, one in the cricket team and now one in the military...nice show. What are they trying pull? a lot of wool

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Only a very few Punjabi's migrated during Soviet invasion and those migrated mainly went to NWFP and later many of them fled PAkistan after they found NWFP was no longer safe for them.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

In the tribal areas(TEERA)one can see tribal Hindu and SIKHS.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Go read up on your history - sikhism was created to counter the muslim invaders, it has no brotherly feelings for islam.Or were you talking about terrorists ??

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

What do you mean “created to counter the muslims”? Many of the first sikhs were Muslims themselves. The religion is a synthesis of Islamic, Hindu andother philosophies.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

Awesome news, wishing the cadet all the best in future to serve his country. Pakistan zindabad.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

I hope this sikh officer does does justice to his position and not start riots as his brethen- sikhs did in 1946. Had it not been for Sikhs, India would have remained united with Punjabi its national language.

Re: First Sikh officer in Pakistan Army

So watching Bollywood in Pakistan means you have to accpet poliitical domination and mulitary rule of INDIA! In Pakistan.
In Pakistan, Indian culture is pretty much banned. We may have a good deal of commonality in culture, good or bad, we dont advertise it. Pakistanis have tried to distinguish themselves from India for half a century. We dont even recognise our Hindu heritage, considering how well Muslim monuments are kept as apposed to Hindu ones.

No Bollywood movies play in our cinemas, we hardly even have any trade with them. This as opposed to Afghanistan which relies on Indians for every aspect of their existance…
So who infact is the one influenced by India?
I have no farternal feeling for PUNJABIS… There is a sense of camaraderie due to similarity in language, but this is far different from wanting to join their country… Punjabis have no notion of a Punjabi state equvilant to the Pathan notion.
The Sikh in question, and then most other Sikhs for that matter in Pakistan as far as I kno, live in the triabl areas of NWFP and Peshawar, and have been assimilated into that society. So what Punjabi farternity are you speaking of?
You people seem to jump at the chance to claim these half Pathan Sikhs when ever it suits you, but if one were to choose to join what you percieve as a Punjabi insitituation, its suddenly Punjabi commaraderie.
