I think we must share our experience of first roza sehri and iftar, its always so exciting
So yeah , we had a pretty long roza here in the UK. Started at 4:00am and finished at 9pm … hubby and me woke up at 3am enthusiastically for sehri and before we knew we were back snoring again only to wake up two minutes before the roza start time  … so yeah sehri was a disaster
Iftar time, I thought an hour would be good for preparation , how wrong was I
I had hardly finished making the pakora mixture and the fruit chat and garamed the salan and roza khul gaya so me and hubs were running around like headless chicken for some minutes … I was running to get the food on the table doing the rotis and all … he was panicking for no reason ! ( we have our TV in the drawing room ) and he kept going back and forth with food in his hands !
Eventually we were so full just with 4 pakora’s and one dahi bara and half a bowl of fruit … that we didnt have space for dinner … so it was put back in the fridge !
I hate it when you acidentally fall back asleep at sehri time and don't manage to eat anything.
1st experience allhamdolillah was good. We were caught out a bit on Tuesday evening as we had to rush to Taraweeh, so had to eat our dinner v. fast as we were running late.
At sehri, once the alarm went off my husband got up to make tea, while I prayed tahajud. We both then ate - we both eat quite different things, so I had cereal, 1/4 roti with a tuna shammi kebab, yougurt, banana and water. While he had cereal, butter puffs and a banana with water.
Iftaari was a bit rushed as I was delayed at work, so didn't get home as early as I hoped and only had 45 mins to prep. Still I made alook tikkis, masala fish and chips. We also had some apple pie - did the clearing up and off we went for Taraweeh again.
hmmmmm i m pregnant so no roza for me.................
but i woke up around 3 :50am made paratha for huby dont know what happened to me i made one partha for myself also though not fasting......lolz...........n was eating like i m going to have fast............
i strted making iftari at 5 pm........... my huby was really helpful he helped in each n everthing.......... finally i went in tv room n he himself made pakoras lol............... n on iftar table i was the first one sitting...........after iftari huby n bro in law cleared the table n washed all the plates......... so beneficial to be pregnant.............
Our first roza went great alhumdulliah.. hubby and I woke up around 4:40ish.. he made eggs and paratha for himself.. I had toast. He likes to have his chai so he had that while I had to gulp down 2 glasses of water.. that was pretty much it for sehri..
For iftaar I kept it simple as hubby leaves for taravian and doesn't have much time in between.. so we usually open fast with dates and juice quick pray and eat dinner.
ok well me preggers, and so hubby didnt wake me up at all, he just made his own paratha and tea. i do try to wake up, however i usually cant sleep because im so uncomfortble so by the time its time for sheri thats when im almost aslp..so he doesnt wake me. he usuall eats paratha anyway.
for iftaari, first day we were at my mums. he was at work. i made chole chaat, fruit chaat, and pakore. mum made salan roti and fish tikkis.....
one thing i have noticed is that i eat like a ***. il eat lots of smaosay, pakorey, chaat first. while he eats one date, fruit, and then runs to read namaz. all the time im still sitting there stuffing my face. he comes back from namaz, im still eating. he eats roti. im still eating. he drinks his tea. im still eating. he then has to remind me namaz parhi....i feel guilty and stop eating.
i then rush to read. come back, to find my plate being washed up.grrrrrrrrrrr, i havent finished eating yet.....
yup dinner after iftar … first few roza’s pakora’s and dahi ballas are a must, just out of excitement … after the first few days , jub shoq poohra ho jata hai bi then we just stick to usual dinner …
but i like the weekend proper iftar idea … think i might start doing that too
