You can say it's Gavaskar's fault and also say Inzi's absence cost it. It makes sense yes Inzi could have won the match for us but we are forgetting the big thing Aussies. They played well and won...World IX wasn't that bad batting and bowling wise.
Captain1, I know they failed that's the point they aren't that bad of bastmen. I think Austraila with all their injuries and players getting old are pretty good team, all over the world.
I would be looking at Freddie and Pieterson very closely whether they can perform like they did in the Ashes against Australia in this series and against Pakistan in Pakistan.
I think people here are forgetting one factor. The Aussies were playing for their country, Rest of the world were playing for who? There is a certain pride and commitment when you are playing for your country and thats why most of the time such contests are lost by world X1
Cohesion could be another factor. The World IX is not use to playing with each other from openers to bowlers and the captain needs to know how to handle each player and when and where they should play. Let's see if they show any improvement in the next coming matches also what do you guys think Shewag as an eight down and Afridi as an opener. I mean our boy isn't that bad you know...better hitter than Shewag :)
The World Eleven batsmen looked horribly irresponsible. There was no reason why they wouldn't have been able to chase the score with that batting line-up. Look at the shot Lara played for God's sake! Idiots.
You have got to be kidding. Sehwag is a batsmen, Afridi is just a slogger who tries to smack every ball out of the ground. Sehwag actually relies on such stuff as timing, placement and shot selection. Afridi, however, just throws his bat at the ball and hopes it goes for six. There really is no comparison between the two as Sehwag is a batsmen you ca rely on whereas Afridi is merely a gamble.
diametric … Sehwag’s approach is not that different either. He throws his bat at a number of deliveries without actullay knowing where the ball is supposed to go. On his day, he can score a triple hundred but if the lady luck is not with him, then his wicket can be taken a number of times even before he reaches double figures.
Over the past 6 months, Sehwag has occasionally been dropped 3-4 times in an innings and he still got out before reaching 50. He was out for 6 yesterday even after getting a life.
Both can be equally dangerous provided its their day… and I believe this discussion wud go on an on…
i have never seen aussies celebrating like tht much as they did in first one day...they once again showed tht they r champs and they will win and they desrve to win
Yes, I agree to a certain extent. However, Sehwag actually can penetrate the field quite well whereas Afridi **always **has to go over the top. Ask yourself truelies, who would you rather have opening for you, Afridi or Sehwag? I would always go with Sehwag because you know more often than not he will perfrom for you. With Afridi he will occasionally produce a quick fire century but more often than not, he’ll get out cheaply. That’s the reason why Sehwag is not only in the Test team but he can also maintain his place comfortably.
The most important factor I feel is that Australia playing for their country against a 'team of best players in the world'.One can imagine the pride and motivation of Aussi players.
Second is certailnly flaws in World team selection.I can't understand why Gavaskar is selected as the chairman. He is simply partialalist.I think following players does n't deserve a place.
1.Vettori(though he played well it could have been a fast bowler instead)
2.Pollock
3.Afridi
4.Entiny
Instead of these they could have included.
1.Harmison
2.Shane Bond(I rate him as no one fast bowler in the world)
3.Inzamam(a clear match winner)
4.some one like Stefen fleming/Sarwan.
